    Wheel Spacers on the A3

For those of you that are using spacers what if any affect do they have on the handling of the car ? I appreciate people fit them for looks and i'm happy to do that however not at the expense of handling.

    Cheers

Some say they have noticed a difference. I can't say I have to be honest. I have 10mm front and 12mm rear.

Makes it corner slightly better with the wider track. In terms of acceleration and braking, there's hardly any difference. (10mm front, 15mm rear)

I have to say that for a bit I thought that I was getting vibration from the wheels, but later realized it was just bad pavement. As for differences I can't say as I've noticed any huge handling improvements, haven't really pushed the car too much since my tires are shot and I don't want to put the new ones on before winter when I switch to my winter tires. The only negative thing I noticed is that it tends to fall into the ruts created by trucks on the road more easily. Kinda like when youre driving over streetcar tracks and the wheels want to follow the tracks. Main thing I noticed with mine is that they rear ones rub even with the fender screw taken out... I guess that's what you get for wanting to go wider. I have 15mm in the rear BTW.

with my wheels the ofset already makes the front look like 10mm has been added, but rears would be nice with some wider stance which maybe if I can get the rs3 arches when it comes out will allow the spacers at last for the better stance, failing that just bespoke some

Where is the best/cheapest place to get some spacers? and do the extended studs normally come with them?,i know some of you are saying you have 15mm on the rear but i thought someone said on here 12mm was max or does it depend on if you have gen wheels and what size for the width and offset?

    You could always try here:

    http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/113-dpm-performance/

I got mine from DPM, and can only recommend the quality of H&R spacers, most of the people on here use them too.

I was about to suggest Damian@DPM.

Also I have used a guy before which were absolutely perfect hub centrics & longer bolts/secure bolts for fair price

sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm also curious about spacers

I have 18" ET45 S4 rims and they look nice and flush at the front, but I'd like the track at the rear to be a little wider so the rear wheels look flush with the arch.

I'm about to get a set of Eibachs (still can't decide between Pros and sportlines) - would I be able to get away with spacers on the rears without rubbing?

    Cheers

I'd say you should be able to get away with 10mm at the rear Adam.

I'd go for the 15mm mate. I have the 12mm and they look great but I wish I had gone further to enhance the effect a little more.

But his wheels are already ET45, 15mm would probably be too much in my opinion.

I'm running a set of 10mm H&R spacers with a 54 offset 18" alloys and Sportline suspension. I removed the screw from the bumper straight away and have not seen any rubbing.

On a side note i will be selling the set of 4 H&R spacers inc longer bolts and McGuard locking nuts shortly. Only had them on since Feb.
