I'm about 500 miles in to the 'bedding-in' stage and I'm starting to feel like it's lost some of the 'spirit' it had when I first got it. I'm currently putting this down to two possibilities:
1. At about 350 miles in, I decided to let the horses run free at some traffic lights. Going pretty hard through the gears, I heard what sounded like a 'thump' on the centre of the firewall, then it seemed to go a bit sluggish. Since then, the engine seems to be a little noisier and there seems to be a very slight metallic noise coming from around the front passenger footwell that I hadn't noticed before. I've assumed I haven't broken anything serious because I've no lights on the dash. Could a hose have popped off under the pressure of hard acceleration?
2. Having come from a 1.4 Honda Civic, when I first drove the A3, it felt like I had a nuclear power station under my right foot. Is it possible that I'm getting used to the power now and it's just starting to 'feel' slow?
It's due for it 1000 mile / 6 weeks checkup soon, which is a comfort, but I'm hoping to god something won't show up to the techs that I 'ragged' it one time during the bedding-in stage.
