Hi folks,
I'm currently car-less, looking to buy an A3 as soon as poss (I've been car-less for couple of days...i don't like it!).
Here's my requirements:
- post-2008 2.0 TDi 170hp
- probably at least S Line spec
- prefer 3-dr but am ok with 5-dr
- pretty much only want a black one (colour, not 'edition'!). Ummed and arred with some silvers/greys, but think I'm done on those.
- wanna keep miles below 80k if poss. and if miles are that high, then interior needs to still be in good condition
- must-have options - multi-function steering wheel, parking sensors
- nice-to-have options - cruise control (this is a must-have for me, but I can always get this retro-fitted, so wouldn't stop me buying one without), Black edition, start-stop, sat-nav (no chance on that! they're even rarer spec'd than parking sensors!), storage pack (had one in the A5 I just sold, and the little flappy things that come down in the boot to hold shopping bags are a God-send!...genius!), privacy glass.
My budget is £11k-ish.
What's the general feeling about largely-over-average-mileage on the newer cars?
There's one I'm looking at, just come on AT, no pics yet even, but the description reads pretty great, great spec car, it's 79k and it's a 2011 car!! so that mileage-per-year is pretty huge.
But, it's only 3 years old. Description says it's immaculate throughout though, so I assume that includes driver's seat, etc.
It's a 2011 2.0 TDI 170 S Line with start/stop (so the performance/economy/emmissions combo is superb to me), FASH including timing belt change, 1 owner. And because of the massive mileage, it's up for £11k, which is £4k cheaper than Parkers price for the model.
it would be great to get your thoughts on this 79k car/price/risks/things-to-look-out-for type stuff
and also, any advice for any other general tips when looking at used A3s with the desired spec I've described above.
thanks all!
Steve.
Edit: forgot to say, I only do about 6k miles a year, so I'll bring that average down a bit over the course of ownership. I think this works in this particular car's favour!
you may have guessed, I am keen on this car, just cos of the spec and price... so I'd really love to hear that it's not the dumbest move ever, buying a 3 yr old car with almost 80k miles on it!!
