audi navigation plus needs code !
Hi i am wondering if there is anyone out there that can help me it's driving me up the wall.

I purchase an Audi a3 navigation plus for my car off gumtree
The previous owner fitted and then must have entered the code for it
It was working fine but then I changed my battery and now is asking for a code
He stayed over 100 miles away and I have lost his phone number
Audi say they Cant touch it as it is not in it's original car

It is driving me mad

Please help !

If you don't have the card with the code on it, try removing the unit I've seen a lot where sellers have put a sticker on top of the unit. There are also decoding services on ebay but cannot comment if they work or not.
 
I have checked the manuals and the unit itself I can't find anything
There must be someone somewhere that can help me I need it back :(
 
Strange! I put one in mine and when I changed the battery it remembered it's code. I've had it out a couple of times since and it still remembers it? :uhm:

Fortunately, I have the code anyway.
 
Stereos are synchronised with the original car but need the code to work in an alternative car
 
That's why I thought it was strange, the car remembers the second-hand RNS-E I fitted. I only put the code in when I first fitted it and now it remembers it whenever it's disconnected?

I've had it in and out a few times while I've been fitting a mike for the SDS and not needed to put the code in again. :think:

Maybe Nigel can enlighten us?
 
audi can get the code even if its in another car
iv had a few done at sheffield audi
 
No on-line places that just need the serial number?
 
Jeefro, perhaps you could try to contact the previous owner. By that I mean 'Googling' his family name, town he is living in, and any other information (such as first name etc)..... If you know the town, you can also look online at the local telephone directory. Good luck mate.

Can't find him on your Gumtree account?
If not, I know it's a fair trip, but could you not go back to see him?
 
It's a very small town but I'm not sure of his exact location I met him outside his house I cannot remember street name

It's the worst scenario
 
Very strange this!! You have only registered on Audi-sport this month, you don't have the fellas contact number (perhaps check your phone bill for numbers called around the time you got the RNS-e), you say the car does not remember the code, etc etc. it does not matter if the car is not the original donar car, once you put the code in once it should always remember it after, regardless what A3 it goes into, even when battery is disconnected.
You could be completely legit mate, but your time of registration, questions and answers you are given all seem too suspicious.

I have only had my a3 about 4 months

I am a genuine person

I am only trying to get some help I love and always have loved Audi
It's my first Audi was before on the Vauxhall forums but I really can't stand vauxhalls anymore !
A friend told me of this website he told me it was useful
So I thought I would give it a try there is a lot of helpful information on here as I have done a lot of stuff to my car

I am just looking for some help mate

But people like you seem to ruin things like this be immediately jumping in saying things like "its suspicious" I'm just looking for help mate .
 
Mate, you need to understand, we have had many threads like this in the past from newly registered users and turns out they were dodgy. Not trying to imply you are but you need to understand why.

So I apologise if my suspicions are wrong fella.
With regards to the seller, did you follow my advice and check your phone bill for calls made around that time? Then you can get hold of his number.

I am withT-mobile and I can check calls going back to nearly a year when I log in on line, perhaps you could do the same with your phone provider??

No offence meant, good luck with your search.
 
I am with giffgaff and it isn't stored in my calls as I just bought myself an HTC one

audi upgrades
Just to let you all know I got the code for 10 bucks from an Audi specialist near me thanks for the help

But now my it won't eject my CD ! Any ideas ?

It is saying CD /dvd is unreadable
Please check the CD /dvd and it won't eject
 
Needs to be coded with vcds to eject; more dosh (but usually just beer tokens!) :icon_thumright:
