    Winter Rims/Tyres - Did I get a good deal?

Having never bought Winter tyres before I went in at the deep end and starting doing research.

I searched and searched but finally found 4x Dunlop Winter Sport 3D (all with 6.5mm tread ) on A3 Special Edition 16" rims like below

I know I know, they aren't the nicest of design but for winter they'll do rightly.

Paid £235 delivered which I thought wasn't too bad for basically near enough brand new tyres?

Blackcircles are selling one tyre for £83-ish.

Sounds OK to me, winter tyres are proven to be worthwhile having, you will save your good wheels/tyres for Summer and be safer ito the bargain. Let's face it no-one really looks at what you are driving in winter or what the wheels are, they will match the car and not look out of place and if you do decide you are fed up changing them back an forth, you will always sell them again, win - win if you ask me

Not too bad a deal, those wheels tend to go for £100 - £150 depending on condition, the tyres are also roughly half worn as they come with between 8 - 9mm when new and loose their effectiveness in snow @ 4mm, so not a bargain price but not over the odds either.

    Wheels Now On

wheels are on - sorry for the pics, will get better ones tomorrow afternoon

its funny seeing the car with different wheels, i keep thinking "whattttt?"

Love having the comfy ride back with the higher sidewall but brake noise has increased. Takes the bumps well which I enjoy coming from a /45 to a /55

They dont look that bad Chris, you did indeed get a good deal. Lets hope we dont get to much snow this year, though it has been snowing on and off here since last night, inbetween the rain and hailstones. Think its going to be a long winter. x

Me too! You shoosh, Sandra. Snow is the one redeeming feature of living here... the cold, dark, wet nights are rubbish compared to the joyous white glow of fresh snow.

Not a big fan of them tbh Sandra, but can't complain if they keep me stable. Especially as I'm use to the quattro on my A6. No snow here yet, but relatives in Glasgow were reporting -5 last night.

    Thanks for the advice guys

Got my summers cleaned this morning ready for storage. Will let a bit of air out of them before hand.

Liking the comfort on the 16s but prefer the 17 design!

Will get better pictures of the car this afternoon - The Mrs is away in the car this morning.

I'd say pump them up more for storage, so you don't risk getting flat spots.

i was told to lower the pressure?

they will be stored flat with the design (rim face?) facing upwards and they will not be stacked on top of each other.

i still snigger when i look at the car! :D

Don't take my word as gospel, just seems like high pressure would be better. Suppose there won't really be any weight on them if not stacked too.
