    Servicing - Confused !!!

    Hi all,

I have an Oct. 2008 (coming up to 4 years old) A3 Cab with the 2.0 TSI engine and S-Tronic/DSG gearbox.

It is on the AVS servicing scheme and has had two services so far based on this. It is now on 32k miles.

The driving is a mixture of town (70%) and motorway (30%)

I am planning on having it serviced in a couple of weeks as there are 50 days left on the indicator and it will be due its MOT so I have a few questions:

    - Is AVS or Fixed servicing best for it ?
    - What should I have done at this next service eg brake fluid, fuel filter, spark plugs etc ?

    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,

Doing that low mileage I would say your better on fixed servicing.

As to what needs doing it depend on whats been done in the past, brake fluid should be every two years. Maybe a good idea to do spark plugs and fuel filter.

Thanks. I don't think they have done anything in the past other than change the oil.

I definitely want the brake fluid done as it is 4 years old now.

I thought spark plugs were every 6 years or 60k miles ? Is that correct or should I do them anyway ?

What is the recommended interval for the STronic gearbox oil ?

S-Tronic oil and filter 38k or 4 years.
    Cambelt 60k or 4 years

    I'd also have:
air, fuel and pollen filters changed.
    Brake fluid change.
    Anti freeze check/top up.
Air con service: drain and re-gas+ oil.
    Wiper blades

Thank. Can't I do the wiper blades myself ? I shouldn't need to pay Audi unless there is something different about these blades compared to other cars.

The cambelt every 4 years - really ??

If you have the 211bhp TSi engine it doesn't have a cambelt... It's chain driven.

I think it is 197Bhp so I guess it is belt driven then.

5 years sounds like a more reasonable interval. I might leave it to next year then.

    Thanks guys.

So in summary, it sounds like I should have the following (prices based on Audi website):

    - Change from AVS to Fixed Servicing
    - Major Service (incl oil, filters and plugs): £299
    - Brake Fluid Change: £59
    - Air Con Service: £74.95
    - S-Tronic Oil and Filter: ?? need to get a quote from the $tealer but looking at the forum it looks like it will be around £220

What you listed there is what my car had last year when it was four years old apart from the S-Tronic service as mines a manual.

I had the cambelt done for it's fifth birthday! Booked it in today for this years service which is a small (cheap) one so no big bill this time!

An independant will charge you half what Audi are charging, get a quote and get Audi to price match or atleast knock those prices down. £300 for an air filter and oil service is obscene.

Or the fuel filter on a diesel, so the extra £150 is for the fuel filter and wandering around the car with an inspection lamp?

I think it's the plugs on the petrol but the fuel filter instead on the diesel according to the Audi site...
