Hi all,

I've recently bought a 2.0 fsi, all seems sound enough but for peace of mind, i'd like it servicing.

What can I expect from a full service?

Cheers

What year is it .. Audi do fixed price servicing for cars over 3 years old.

Take it to an independent and get oil changed, air/oil/fuel filters changed and new plugs. I paid £180 for that recently. Audi will charge you twice that.

Yeh, definitely not taking it to Audi. They're wanting £300 for a major service!

There's an independent garage near me that I've heard are really good. Although, last time I heard, they're wanting £215+VAT for a major service and thought that was a bit pricey?

Thats almost the same as Audi. I'd phone around a good few places, it's amazing to see how much they vary in price.

Just go to audi and get it service, you get what you pay for. I tried several independent garages before but it seem dealer is the best even though they are 80-100 more. In the end when you sell the car,its worth more if you have full dealer service history :))Just my opinion :))However I would only go to local garage if I don't have full service history for the car or it has never had any dealer service history :)

I'd say Audi was quite the opposite, you pay for nothing but snobby salespeople and a slapdash job.

Id rather hand over my cash to the person who is actually doing the work, rather than some lass on minimum wage with a cheap suit driving her loan car thinking shes the queen bee.

On that basis I would take it to Audi... You can haggle with the dealers to get the price down a bit.

A good vw/Audi independent I got a full service for 115 quid and the guy worked for vw for 10 years.. He knew about all the problems with the tfsi engine and Haldex etc I am sure google will find you right.. He picked up more than the main dealer did when mine went for a coil pack recall, so I would say Audi are over priced and by no means as good. I should also point out Audi failed to notice the under boosting picked up straight away by my independent and he knew from experience it was the dv.. Audi would have charged me 90 quid just to work out what the problem was

Which garage in Leeds ? I have a reliable VAG specialist who I can point you towards if you want.

There's a good specialist near stourton. Can't remember what there called. Opposite the big scrap yard called Brammals if that's any help.

Ivc on pontefract road mate. Give them a bell.

Cheers for all the input lads!

Gstar51 - That's the place that want £215+VAT mate. I only live in Rothwell and work in Hunslet so its in a pretty ideal location but just a bit expensive.

Mike Foster - Be much appreciated if you could, cheers.

I will get a price for you and PM it. When you say a 'full service' what exactly do you mean ? It depends on the age and mileage of the car so you need to check the like-for-like prices. Also at certain age/mileage it should have extra work done apart from the standard stuff so these details are required first.

My car is a 56 plate with around 66,000 miles on it.

From the thread that I have read, IVC do the following in a full service -
Change oil and filter using long life oil, air filter, fuel filter and pollen filter. Do a full vehicle check and report, lubricate all that needs lubricating and do all necessary adjustments.

I assumed that this is all that is done in a full service? I'm also aware that the belt and water pump will need changing, however I'd rather get it checked over first before splashing out on that changing.

PM sent !

Belts can't be checked, they need changing at the correct interval. A belt will fail without visible wear, and it's engine-munching time if it snaps.

Change your spark plugs too.
