How much for camber & wheel alignment - any Middlesbrough area recommendations?

    Hiya peeps!

I'm finally getting me coilies done a week on Saturday - so obviously I'm gonna need to get my camber & wheel aligment sorted, I phoned Canon Park Tyre Exchange in Middlesbrough today and explained what I was doing and asked for a price, he quoted me £25.

Just got home and told the husband and he said that sounded very cheap and asked if I'd asked about camber - I didn't coz I thought he would have quoted me for everything I'd need doing after I told him what the crack was.

Can anyone shed any light on what I should be paying and/or recommend where to go (I have no issue with Canon Park TE but recommendations are always good)

    Thanks guys!

You really need 4 wheel alignment doing, so if thats what theyre doing great.

What you dont want is a quick - Kwik fit type 'tracking' session.

I've found a place that uses the beisbarth alignment equipment in the north east for this is S-Cars in spennymore - cost was around £45 I think, but I knew it was done right.

Thanks for that - I was originally expecting to pay between £40 - £60 coz I really wasn't sure so that doesn't sound bad, bit far for me though as I'll likely be going on my own - don't like going too far on me own without 'husband-nav' lol

So you reckon its safe to use Kwik-fit for this type of thing? - sooo many horror stories haha

    I use these guys:

    4 Wheel Alignment

but they might be a bit far for you to travel. super accurate machine though.

Who's doing your coilies and how much? Only reason is Revoloution are very competative price wise and might be able to do you a good fitting and alignement deal.

Don't you want a Beissbarth alignment rather than a 4 wheel alignment?

If you go to kwikfit they will just align the wheels (toe), they won't check castor or camber settings. At APS a Beissbarth alignment is about £80 so I doubt what is being offered at high street garages is likely to be as comprehensive although I'd be interested to hear others views on this.

In all honesty Warren, I'm really not sure - not too fussed on going overly technical on it just as long as its 'right' and not overly expensive. I doubt i'll be going to Kwik-fit like - makes me judder!

If you went there you'd be juddering as your wheels would be loose and the tyres would be fitted in the wrong direction!!!

Coilies will change the geometry so it's worth getting it as right as poss as otherwise tyre wear will increase, and under heavy braking or in bad weather conditions your stopping distance will increase and even worse it may not even brake in straight line. A few quid today can save big bills or worse insurance claims / personal well being later on. Sounds like bro in aw knows where he's at so it's all good.

You can use Welcome to Align My Car to find your nearest place with Hunter equipment - looks like that's what North Eastern Tyres and Exhaust have. Spot on results I've had in the past on Hunter machines...

I've always paid around £25 for toe alignment. Plenty of places that do it.

As for camber, I've not found many places that do it. When I was at uni I found a place and it was £60 for camber and toe.

I'd assume, or atleast hope, that anywhere that offers the service of fitting suspension components has access to full wheel alignment facilities.

Just phoned NE Tyre & Exhaust and they quoted me £30 for front toe, £30 for rear toe and price on inspection for camber (if its adjustable).

I assume the camber is adjustable is it?

Also, anyone think this is a bit OTT on price??

I think it's fair. You can bet adjustment will be required, so about £15 a corner sounds fair.

Youve paid for coilovers so finish the job properly and reap the rewards!

In London I paid £100 last year for laser allignment (Hunter) and wheel balancing for all 4 wheels.
At another garage I recently paid £90 for laser allignment (Hunter), but I can go back as many times as I like within the next 6 months and they will re-allign for free.

So it seems about £100 is the average on Hunter systems then. Good to know.

They've quoted me £30 front & £30 rear. I've tried to look into the camber adjustment and I think it might only be the rear thats adjustable.

(love my wheels but gonna look for something more 'German' further down the line)

To do: LCR splitter / black out chrome grille trim & front and rear rings / vinyl wrap wing mirrors gloss black / Paint calipers - Japlac Deep Jewel / Mirror decals / Zentrum number plate surrounds / legal pressed plates / private registration

phil_w mentioned using Just Car Clinic in Scarborough but I searched and found one in Hartlepool.

Seems prices are varying wildly even just relatively locally.
