Hi all,
I've been reading this forum all day today and done a lot of reading over at vwaudiforum too. The reason is because I almost bought an 2005 A3 2.0 TDI 140 Sport and then had a friend heavily advise me against them due to injector faults etc. I'd never heard about this so did some trawling through Google etc and found the megathreads on here and other forums regarding people with 'BLB' enginges and 2005 - 2008 140ps and especially the 170ps Piezo injector based engines I'm now a bit lost as to what I want to get.
I want an A3, 2004 or 2005 TDI and the idea of a late 2005 with the facelift is really appealing to me. The problem is that I don't want one of the 105ps 1.9L engines, it's just too slow for my needs. So I'm hoping I've understood everything and I was settled on a 2004 2.0L 140ps A3 that's a non BLB (I'd check the sticker next to the spare wheel for this right?) but then I read;
" Avoid the later piezo injector engines and avoid the 2.0 PD at all costs because of the likelihood of oil pump drive failure - especially in N-S installations."
... over at honestjohn and now stuck again, is this reference to the BLB and as long as I avoid that and get pre 2005 I *should* avoid these two major faults?
Cheers
