Immobiliser/Key light

Does anyone have trouble starting their A3??

Sometimes when i i unlock with the key ( as mines a pikey A3!!) sometimes the immobiliser/key light flashes which stops the car starting......................

I have to take the keys out & relock it, then go through getting in again,Then its fine.

its not a regular occurrence, but it does get on my tits when I'm doing me getaway driving with the local badboys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/groovy.gif

The car reads some sort of code off the key, so it could be a flaky keyswitch.

Why is it flashing when you open the car!?!?

There is a coil around the ignition barrel that reads the key transponder. If that's knackered then unfortunately is a whole new top colum job.

As for the other keys, the things have to be damn close for it to work. I have a VW fip key on my set as well and thus far that hasn't caused any problems.
