I have always used quantum syntha gold oil in my car... after ringing audi... they only sell quantum syntha platinum????????? the oil they use one oil for all engines.... surely thats not going to be the best plan? so..... my idea now is to look into a new oil... what should i try??
ive been told valvoline is a good oil ??
or castrol edge ??

Ive just got myself some Castrol Edge 5w30. Ive heards its the recommended oil.

Halford own brand synthetic is the same as Synta Gold. Often on offer at 2 for 1. If you are not on variable servicing and changing the oil regularly (5000 miles/ 6 months for me) there is no need waste money on the AVS oil.

You could allways try the local vw dealer for synta gold, i was told the same by nottingham audi that they had stopped stocking gold so went to the vw dealer and got 5L of gold for £22 IIRC.

If you go here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ and register using your audi-sport.net boards name you can get 10% of the price of oils

They sell the Castrol Edge 5w30 here
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-713-castrol-edge-5w-30-for-modern-engines.aspx

As well as the 10% off, you'll also get a discount if you buy a four 4L containers. You'll save 10% again.

I got mine in Halford because it was handy. I got 5 4L containers for pretty much the same price as opie oil...I just ask for a trade discount. I don't have a trade card, but simply asked the guy would he give me a trade discount if I bought a few bottles, he offered the trade discount straight away.

Just looked back at my old thread...in Feb you could get 16L of Castrol Edge 5w30 from Opie Oils at £121.29...it's now gone up to
£145.76 . That's a 20% increase...maybe not quite the bargain they used to be!
