gearbox codes importance?

Hi .
the box has died on my wifes 1999 a3 1.6 manual.
It currently has a duu code box can this be replaced with an ebd code box from a car of the same year same engine size ?

depends what the EBD came from really.....
if it's from a diesel car I'd advise against it massively, also, 1.8 and 1.8T boxes have taller ratios.

The 1.6 had a fairly low ratio box as it's so underpowered. much higher revs at a given speed on the 1.6 box.

it is from another 1-6 . apart from the code its the same .i just didnt wanna buy it and it not fit. will it fit???

if it's from another 1.6 it may well be ok.....

you may need to swap the shifter assembly on top of the box over from the old box, but otherwise it should go I guess.....

I put a 1.6 petrol box onto a 110 tdi, was a great laugh!
