Does anyone elses S3 clocks light up when you turn the ignition on regardless of whether you have your lights on or not? Mine do, and I don't think they should.

So it would appear to be a standard feature then? Bu99er

Can anyone tell me what I need to alter in VAGCOM to turn it off?

Yeah, but I'm thinking it will be all to easy to set off at night through town without your lights on cos you can see everything.

Your town obviously can't afford street lamps then. All to easily done if you can see your speedo etc.

no coz ur tape etc and the light under the ashtray dont come on etc. and the green light sayin ur lights arent on!!

c'mon man stop being picky!!

;-)

Hey Rich, any idea how?? WAY back in late 99/early 2000 when I test drove a 1.8 it had the dash lights on, but I was actually a tad bit disappointed when my TQ showed up without the feature /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Not 100%. have a look at www.ross-tech.com

Possibly the hardest website to navigate around but should be on there somewhere!

Wahoo!!! Gonna try it tonight!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So am I right in thinking that Channel 19 should read 01000 then for the dash lights to be opperated on the light switch?

VAG-COM Works fine.

Tweak:
There are four lighting modes:
Mode 0: Nothing lit until ext. light on
Mode 1: Pointers lit all the time
Mode 2: Scales lit all the time
Mode 3: Pointers and Scales lit all the time
Mode is changed in Adapation Channel 19. Standard value should be 11000 (or something close). The first (left-most) digit is the lighting mode.

Adaptation 60,61,62

Funny one this - I came over from SAAB, lights (dash and headlamps) on 24/7 whilst driving (Nordic safety) and yep, it was a real bummer for all of the first 2/3 days, but you get used to it - more importantly, anyone know how to have the headlights on automatically with the ignition 'on'? I like this safety feature and miss it from the SAAB (love old gits in there mk 2 Escorts waving and mouthing 'ya got ya lights on mate' too!).

Well I tried those codes. No good. The codes returned by VAGCOM didn't match what the instructions should be.

So, what manuals are available for the S3/A3 that I could purchase? Are the Bentley manuals any good? I know the closest you can get is a TT manual, and I've been lead to believe that they are American only. Any one got one? Are they of any use?
