Got my car back today from Birmingham Audi in Solihull today, I have to say their customer service is pretty good, and they looked after me all the way, despite my S3 being 8 years old, and me not spending a penny, just wanted to make a warranty claim.
Whilst giving my car a coat of Wax, I found a bit of bubbling on the top of my passengerside rear quarter, where it joins the roof, so thought I'd give this 12 year anti-corrosion warranty a try, not thinking they would give me anything, but to my suprise, they had a look, and Audi UK appoved the work.
The work was done to quite a high standard, they resprayed the whole of my roof, the passenger side complete rear quarter and the top bit of the driver side, where it joins the roof, plus they replaced the two roof channel rails also, so I'm mega happy :)
Gave my car a mild mop over too, to took out a few scratches I couldn't get out with T-cut or scratch X, and there was some carkey damage on my passengerside which I had polished out, they manage to repair that also, so all smooth now haha.

Just thought I'd point out that my car was last serviced by Audi in 2004, and I've used independant specialists after, and that the driverside rear quarter and door had been resprayed previously, which is why they didn't spray the whol panel on that side, so I really couldn't ask for more.

One happy S3 owner! :arco:

Nice one Jojo, when you say "to quite a high standard"...doesn't sound too confident to me?

Can you tell it's been done?

You couldn't tell the roof has been resprayed, unless someone told you before hand, it's a good job! The passenger side rear quarter is as good as the factory finish, not too sure how they 'blended' the driver side panel in though? I got an Audi warranty note with all of it in writing.

Wow good thinking man. Any pics of the quality work?

Depends on what you need doing and how much you want to spend, hence my quality of work quote lol, I'm kinda in the motortrade, so I can recommend a few bodyshops in Brum.

I got told that its only a ten year warranty when i phoned about my a3! shall be checking the manual later methinks

My car is an import (came from Germany) do you think they will honour it?

My S3 was due to be done this weekend by audi for exactly the same thing :sob:

Guys

I have a 99 A4, do you think that would be covered as standard, as I have a few spots on the car that are bubbling up and rusting, I am also only down the road from the Solihull Audi Garage.

Thanks
Nilz

Worth a try, if the paint is still original paint. Just go straight to the receptions desk and ask to see the warranty manager, as you want to make use of your anti corrosion warranty, he will measure the paint thickness with a digital tool and see if there's any neglect on your part with the corrosion. It's a known common problem for the A3/S3 platform, so not sure how you will get on with your A4, but my S3 was all clean and shiney when he was doing the tests, which should have helped.

good news bad news....audi in gloucester are back open.... floods warning again so it may be closed again by monday:bye:

damn , i had the same problem with mine , i payed my mate to spray it , didnt realise audi would of done it for free ,

Just got the call on friday eve, claim has been accepted and i bought mine without warrenty

Hi,

I have a 1998 Audi A3 with the same corrosion problem on the roof.
I haven't made all the services on Audi, will this be a problem to claim
for the warranty (Corrosion) ?

Thanks for your replies.
Regards

Luis

You shouldn't have a problem with your claim, ask to see the warranty manager at the stealers who should not have a problem authorising the repair and book you in.

Mine took three weeks in the end as the lacquer kept peeling after the bake, and it's going back in next week for another repair as they didn't do a very good job on the petrol cap which is peeling after there weeks of rain.

Luckily, it's their issue so should be sorted before I sell the car on!

:)

The corrosion warranty is for the bodywork, they don't care about service history or mods, I told them my car was modified and serviced elsewhere, and the warranty manager was fine with it all. They will not repair it, if it's obvious to them that there's neglect on your part, so turning up in a filthy car isn't going todo you any favours, and say if your car has covered over 100k miles, they could say it's wear and tear with the mileage covered etc.

Has anyone suffered with rust around the plastic strips on the outside of the S3 doors and got this covered by warranty? - I need to take mine to the stealers at some point for "the inspection" but just wanted to know what to expect

Yes, I have, I didn't think they would warrant that bit, so I repaired it myself.

Worth a shot i guess - you don't ask and all that

failing that it's out with the sander and the hammerite :)

Mine appears to have corrosion on the bootlid - right where the bottom of the rear screen meets the metal - there is a rubber seal and there looks like corrosion against there.

Frankly for a car thats not even 6 years old thats not really good enough - if it was a Ford id be pyshed off but an Audi?!

Its due a service soon so I will enquire when its in the dealers about the warranty.

Ive not seen anyone else complain about this particular problem on here.

Funny how you find things out when you read the forum. Washed my car yesterday, remembered Joe's post on paint bubbling on the roof channels, so paid a bit more attention and guess what - yep, bubbles both sides of the roof in the sample place as you Joe.

Off to see Colbournes in Guildford (aka Camberley Audi) tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip Joe.

i took my car to audi chingford to get rust on the wheel arch sorted out under warranty. they approved it and i shud get it back in a couple of days.

Well went down to Colbournes in Guildford and was told by the bloke I saw that 'I deal with Volkswagen, I don't know what Audi do to approve their warranty claims' So he took my number and said he'd ring me back.

I've since spoken to Camberley Audi again and it transpires that the bloke I need to speak to is on holiday this week. Nice of them to tell me before I went to Guildford....

Stopped for petrol on the way home and found the dreaded blisters on the roof of my S3.
When you make a claim, do you have to call Audi directly or just your local Audi dealer?

Mine is an import form Germany too (6 y.o) and they have honoured the respray on the roof (same bit as Jojo's) and drivers door at the botom. The respray was done to high standards and they even valeted my car at the same time! as you probably have guesed - i was very happy!

Why are these relatively young cars rusting so badly? The door trims I can understand with it being a water trap but I can't understand how the roof would rust or even the arches. Poor quality metals?

Plus you will never get rid of rust once its started. All you people who have had your cars sprayed will have the rust return within a year or two. I guarantee it :(

My old D reg escort didn't even get rust on it. Not good enough on Audi's part!

Well, it's all been happening recently, must have been the heavy rain we've been having of late.

I don't buy that. It shouldn't just start overnight - some of those pics look likes they've been slowly bubbling for months. And even if it was due to heavy rain, thats no excuse. I really hope theres at least a 5 year warranty on the resprays cos its just gonna happen again.
