I'm not too impressed with the Hawk pads that came with my Porsche/ECS brake kit. Anyone got any good recommendations for replacements?

i've heard good things about the ferrodo DS series.

i wouldnt advise redstuff.

they will wreck your discs, i know they chewwed up a friends.

I use OEM porsche Textar 993 twin turbo pads from www.type-911.co.uk

they are circa £66 + vat

Both GSF and ECP do Textar pads they could well be cheaper and depending where you live they could be more accessible :)

Thanks Paul, I'll give them a try. £66 a pair though, eeek.

£66 to stop a cracking car though!!!

Admitably i dotn have porsche calipers - however Quinten Hazel i swear by.. they do take A LONG time to bed in.. around 1000kms .... but once they have.... they are brilliant...and they last a while as well!

As I've just found out to my cost!!

Yes, if the sticky stuff on the back of them doesn't stick anymore.

Paul, do you replce the damper plates at the same time?

first set didnt have them fitted from new.
second set i fitted myself, didnt have them , didnt fit them.

third set with new discs, I supplied them with all the other parts and got Amd to fit them.

I think your nickname of 'Mincing Maguire' says more about your driving style! :moa:

The standard Porsche pads are good...certainly when fitted to a Porsche

That's peanuts...
You've been living in Aberdeen too long...you are starting to sound like a local now!

You know the script. Time/place, blah blah. You can take the yellow beast that couldn't get away from me last time, or that Mk3 if you need something a little more agile. :p

Twice the price of S3 pads. God, you're right. The Scottishness is wearing off on me.

You could try the Pagid RS42 (Blues), they were really good. I used them with my 996 Mov'it kit.
