S3, flat spot when pulling away!

in 1st gear ? what kind of rpms is it at ?
is it only 1st gear ?

Just first gear pulling away, just as the revs start climbing!

mines suffering with that at the minute too. Wonder if its the hot weather?

Don't know, i was thinking it might of been something to do with the injectors?!

mines ok once it comes on boost. L200 is the same and the TDI VW.

Does the car seem to lose power completely for a fraction of a second, and thus make you lurch?

Mine does this sometimes ... but I'm convinced it's the traction control (even though the dashboard light doesn't always come on).

Try it with traction control turned off ... in my case it cured it, so if I want a guaranteed fast start, I flick the traction off for the launch.

if it was the injectors you'd have serious performance problems in all gears

Try turning the Air con off. Simple as that.

Its the extra load that it puts on the engine and at low rpm's the engine struggles.

Service your Forge DV and remove, clean, refit and reset your throttle body.

You'll be suprised.

how do you reset the throttle body?

Ideally it should be off the car (5 min job) then give it all a good spray with carb cleaner and a wipe round to get all the gunk out. Refit it and then reset with Vag-com. This should all be done with the engine cold.

If you're not happy doing this yourself then a specialist will charge you no more than half an hour. Don't listen to them if they say it's unnecessary.

got a new MAF for mine today. Fitting it tonight and hoping it for an improvement in the cars hit and miss performance.

Tell me how you get on Lee mate!

fitted it. Not been able to take it for a spin yet but starting the car and pressing the throttle it's rev'ing much smoother and tickover seems more even. Got high hopes. Bought the MAF from ECP for £76+Vat. You also have to pay a surcharge of £25+vat. Its a Bosch unit too which is good, the guys at Dubsport told me to make sure I get a Bosch replacement as the Pierburg version is poor.

Once you've took it for a :racer: tell me the outcome bud!

its fixed. Sooo much better, the throttle response is much sharper, the power delivery is much smoother and the cars quicker in the lower gears. Car feels right.

Cheers Lee! Had it on my mates vag.com yesterday and it brought up to fault codes, the boost pressure control valve and the MAF. It's in at the local stealership tomorrow to get sorted... under warranty i hope!
