    Plenty of spare time on my hands today. Was going to do the thermostat but my uncle didnt get home from work till late so decided to do it another time.

    First off i went about unwrapping my new bits. Pair of headlights, battery box and a new bit of inner sill trim to replace the cracked one.

    Headlights need some mega tlc on the lense front, but it seems all the adjusters are intact so will chuck them on once polished and mess with my current set that are unadjustable. Will get hold of some new clips that hold the auto adjusters to the bulb assembly as they are prone to going brittle and breaking.

    New battery box to try and fit the engine cover properly....however its completely different! Not a clue what the bit ontop of the battery is? Dunno if its possible to use the new one or not

    Once ive finished pissing around i moved onto giving it a clean, polish and was. Comes up alright but the front bumper and wheels let it down massively!!

    Tuesday night its being dropped off for a Sachs uprated clutch and stage 1 map again. Bring on 260bhp!

    I had trouble explaining about the battery cover thing. Mine was broken in the exact same place as yours but in the end I got one from a chap on eBay breaking an S3. It required several phone calls and photographs via email to ensure that we both understood the part that I needed!! Even the Audi parts system didn't have a part number for it and there is not one printed on the part itself. The car still looks good for twelve years old so don't be too harsh on it!

    Are you going to get the bumper resprayed in the near future? Oh, and get one of those garages cleared out so you can tuck her up at night.

    i didnt realise there was a variety of battery boxes. No harm done, ill just get it back up for sale. Ive attempted to fix the current one, so fingers crossed that holds.

    Yea she scrubs up well. The love is growing!

    I was going to get a load of bits sprayed...front bumper, rear boot trim, bits under the rear lights, front bumper and the wheels refurbed, however having to replace the clutch wasnt a bill i was expecting. So its all on hold for now until im 100% happy with its mechanical side of things, then ill look into the spraying.

    Yea the garages are a pain, everytime i manage to clear atleast one side, someone moves house and the place becomes a store again. Its worse now than its ever been!

    Well....

    She may look nice and shiny, but that issue with the clutch took control today, leaving me stranded at the side of the A47 on the way to Eds. Luckily we weren't a million miles away from where its booked into Wednesday for a clutch change AND the boss was in luckily, so my uncle managed to drive the car there without the clutch.

    Couldn't have the courtesy car though as they were all booked out.

    Bit of a **** way to spend the first nice day of the year. But at least it isn't something that i wasn't already expecting to have to pay for!

    That's a nice looking noggy !!

    I hoped to get mine back last week... BUT a gremlin still in residence in the engineroom dept!!

    basically I have no cooling fans cutting in when up to temp, changed the fan control module but to no avail ... gonna try the fan control switch next

    When I took it for a wee drive it only got up to about 80*c and didn't climb any higher, in fact by the time I got back to the garage it had dropped a bit, thinking should I get a new thermostat in there as well ?

    May be up for sale shortly. Bit gutted after spending so much on a clutch and flywheel amongst other bits to tidy it up!

    What's not 'clicking' with you and the S3?

    We have all been down that road where we lose a bit of love for the motor.....anything particular up?

    No not really. That long list of items ive pretty much ticked everything off.

    When i got the clio, i loved it. I dont have that feeling for the S3. After a few years, i started looking at Megane 250s and convinced myself it would be the wrong decision. But the past 2 weeks ive started looking at them again.

    I think im just favouring the newer motor. The S3, allbeit a nice place to be, still feels old...im missing that interior of the clio.

    If I had to choose it would have to be a Megane 265 cup model for me

    A chap I know has recently changed to one and says it's a great steer and in the gun metal grey they do look pretty mean.

    Yep granted the S3 is not as nice as a brand new top of the range sport model from Renault- but I suppose the you do have 10 years of wear and tear on your car/interior so the seat bolsters may not be as hard as they once was....and the designs that were mocked up are about 15 years old now!

    Who ever buys your motor though will have a lovely example of a noggy

    Its the fear of something going wrong that'll potentially empty my pocket. The longer im on here the more and more issues arise that you guys class as "common". I dont relax driving it lol

    Get all the essential bits done, then do some little touches that will make it 'your own', that may sway your decision against going French again?

    Clutch master cylinder this time....

    When i picked the car up from Jabba after having the clutch done, they asked whether i got in the car with fluid on my shoes or touched the pedal with clutch fluid on my hand as there was fluid in the footwell. They also mentioned that it took ages to get it bled and a decent feel in the pedal and to keep an eye on it.

    After taking it home there were a few drips in the footwell again, but, after a wipe, nothing appeared again. Assumed that the failing slave and loss of pressure may have collapsed a seal causing it to weep a little.

    Over the last 500 miles the clutch has got heavier and heavier. The pedal doesnt feel like its exerting force fully throughout its full travel and therefore not disengaging the clutch properly, making gear changes slow, notchy, and generally ****. It feels just like it did before the slave went. No pressure.

    After phoning them he said he was expecting a call after saying i may have issues. He did say it was a big of a job what with it being in the bulkhead down by the pedal.....but.....the book says 1 hour 15, so thats all they are charging, plus £57 for the cylinder...and....they had a space free Saturday morning. So off she goes Saturday for a new master and clutch switch to stop reving upon dumping the clutch.

    Atleast this way it saves me playing with hydraulics, which i dont like. And, it means that any issues with the clutch in the future, they've done all the work so cant argue anything.

    Other than that, list of jobs to do over the next few weeks;

    -Near side outer CV boot.
    -Daves adjustable tie rods (do i need a new bush to slip between the fork end?)
    -4 wheel alignment.
    -Replacement headlights need polishing, adjuster clip replacing, and fitting.
    -Headlight levelling system needs fault finding.
    -No radio signal, that needs sorting.
    -Brakes need stripping, cleaning, painting, bleeding.

    Then we have the servicing that i cant get my head around. The car had a new engine 60k ago, whens a cambelt required? Oil and filter change is nearly due. Haldex needs doing too i guess.

    Oh and then i want the front bumper painting, the rear boot trim handle, and a scuff on the bumper.

    Oh i did have a little fiddle in the engine bay. Fitted these stainless bolts and washers from a guy on here to replace some knackered ones. Looks alright to me.

    Well. Ive done the main bits ive wanted to do, clutch issues were all fixed saturday, but unfortunately my lift share for work has gone from 4 people to 1. So i can no longer afford to run the S3 so shes up for sale.

    Ill be making a massive loss selling it, but it needs to be enjoyed by someone, not used to do 100miles a day for work.

    Will be putting the for sale ad up over the next week. Any interest, or know of anyone interested, hit me up.

    There seems to be a lot of interest in picking up 8l S3s quiet recently (I blame Mr Plato! haha)

    I'm sure you will have quiet a lot of interest with it being such a lovely example.

    Shame you're selling up mate. I was doing 24k miles a year in mine for the past three years (motorway driving) and it's never missed a beat, however if you feel that it's one thing after another with the car then yes, you find yourself wondering if every little noise is something else about to break. It looks a great example and good luck with he new motor.

    What are you planning to replace it with?
