vapour/smoke on start up

on my A3 no matter if i start it from cold of hot i'm getting a cough of vapour or smoke (it doesnt smell at all)...

Is this just because its very cold or shall i get it checked out?

It's an 02 plate and has only done 22000 miles...

Mine did this when I had a faulty coolant temp sensor.
The mechanic said it did so because it got the fuel mix wrong (it is meant to be specific to the temp i.e. richer when it is colder to assist at startup - something like pulling the choke in older cars).
It even gave me trouble firing it up occasionaly (once every 5-6 weeks).
The trouble is locating the error because these sensors don't give up at once so it is not logged as an error in the ECU, and is not the same sensor that drives the temp gauge.

ok then matey. i might just moan about it to audi and tell them i want it looked at as seen as its under warranty. the only problem is i worry about them driving it from my work to the dealship about 15 miles away...
