    Help turbo problem not boosting like it should.

    Hi all,

    My turbo isnt boosting the same. Low oil sign came on
    so topped up and the car isnt boosting the same. U can hear
    turbo kick in etc but just not the same. Used to kick in just after 3000 rpm n
    had like a double kick but it's just like a diesel turbo now if u no
    what a mean? Help please only please had car 2mins gutted!!!!

    Whats the year/model of the car?

    If the oil light has come on then something could have been starved of oil (turbo bearing, engine bottom end etc) any mods on the car? boost gauge so we know what boost it was running and what it is now? have you had the car scanned for fault codes?

    Sounds like a leak somewhere mate have checked that there are no pipes loose or have popped off? Failing that drive it easy or call a garage, maybe it's also gone into limp mode I had this problem on my golf before I think the oil feed pipe gets clogged and causes low oil pressure light to comes on , but it's a easy fix so drive it easy till u can sort it mate

    Hey tuffty,

    Its had a remap 248 bhp not sure what was boosting As no gauge but
    cars driving fine just lost its kick turbo still kicks in but not
    the same effect. Can't see anything loose and not checked for ne
    code faults etc as was on way home n garage closed. Doesnt seem to
    be smoking or owt. a did notice the temp gauge dropped just below
    The 90 mark 1st time av eva seen that as its always sat at 90.

    So its an S3 then? what year?

    First things as said are to check all rubber pipes/hoses for leaks... typical ones to go are the hoses under the inlet manifold... typical signs is oil... oil should be inside the engine not outside... if the hoses under the inlet manifold are oily then chances are theres a split (or has been in the past)

    Get the car scanned for fault codes preferably using something like VCDS as handheld and generic scanners tend to not give all the detail...

    Yeh sorry it's a 51 plate S3 can't see any visible oil leaks etc n cnt see
    Any loose pipes, just took it round block n turbo sounds different n
    kicks in bwt 3500 rpm. Is it still ok to drive so can get it to garage?
    car still idles fine temp normal n seems to drive as normal bar the turbo?

    Yeh it's had Brembo GT big brake conversion with Feroddo ds2500 pads
    Uprated Haldex controller.
    Remap to 248 bhp (and same ft lb torque)
    Koni shocks and uprated dampers.
    And the rest is standard mate.

    As said mate you need to find a local member with vcds and get the car scanned.
