Don't want to offend any on here but after recieving my new rubber today decided to take it to a tyre fitter and get them fitted on to my refurbished TTRS wheels.

As you can see the wheels came out a treat.

I specifically said to the guy, to please take great care, may have well not bothered, 30 seconds in and after fitting the tyre valve he gasped!!##

That was what I was confronted with.

I don't know what he did but it looks considerably better than it did as I have already polished it in this pic.

Obviously I didn't let him touch any of the other wheels or for that matter finish that one. Going to take it back into where I had them done and see what they suggest, I suspect it will be a complete rubdown and repaint!!!

I dread taking my tyres to be fitted to my wheels, wish it was a DIY job!

I always tame my wheels to alloy specialists to get the tyres fitted, cos they take a bit more care with them. That would annoy me a LOT!, I have to say.

there cueless sometimes, what did he say ow sorry ?

ive had it before on my bbs deep dish for my m3 , totaly dinted the chrome inner ring on all 4 .. after he got up off the floor i made him pay £500 to get them refurbed, total w*nkers
like said go to a specialist with protective tooling on the machines

The reason I used this particular fitter is that he had a 2 week old all singing all dancing new tyre fitting machine. A lot of friends had recommended him to me so thought I would give it a go. It really does make me think that I should buy a machine, fit it in a van and specialise in fitting tyres CAREFULLY!!

Unfortunately, the damage caused to your rim was not done by the new machine. I take it he never even got round to putting a tyre on your rim in 30secs. He used the lip of the rim to lever the rubber valve into the tight hole because he was lazy or not well trained.

Yeah I spoke to another tyre fitter today and he said instantly its from where he levered the tyre valve through!!

Any way all repainted and fitted now.

Very happy

So what you going to do about it, is he going to pay to get them repaired or what, I wouldnt be happy with this and would at the least expect some sort of goodwill gesture from them!!!

Got another tyre fitter to fit them, invoiced the guy who damaged them for the fitting and he will also be invoiced for the repair of 1 wheel.

yeah deffinantly where he leavered the valve over. some people really pi55 me off makes all mechanics look bad!!! its so easy to pull the valve through with the correct tools!!

at least your happy now

From what i remember... its hard to get anything back as you suplied the tyres... it will have been a cash job.
Painted wheels are not always hard wearing , A wheel refurb company local to me offers to fit the tyres with no damage at all.
I have a mate who has fitted tyres for over 8 years... very well too. but i still panic when its time for new rubber
