hi guys,

I have looked through this site and have came across a lot of conflicting information. Basically my SE A3 has halogen lights, the daytime running lights are a yellow colour and I would like these the be a nice crisp white colour. Not bothered about the other lights as there fine enough at night although if it’s a simple job I’d possibly do them so there all the same.

I would also like a nice bright white reverse light.

What bulbs would you recommend, I have limited mechanical knowledge and don’t want to be hacking away at housings. And can we keep it legal, I’m not wanting any issues with police or at Mot time.

Thanks.

The DRL's are a H15 fitment, the market isn't really that great for bright H15's... When I had my A3 I tried a handful of them who guaranteed a bright white crisp light, but to be honest, they were shocking, to the point that you'd flash someone out of a junction and they couldn't even recognise that you were flashing! As annoying as it is, you're better off sticking with the standard bulbs!

don't think its going to be possible, For some reason I think the bulbs are dual filament so they serve purpose for dip or main beam. I could be wrong, but I looked in to this yrs ago and realised it wasn't really possible and I think it was for those reasons. You could always get someone with VCDS access to tuen up the DRL brightness but then it will just look like you have your main beams on all the time and not a normal DRL.

Ok thanks for reply. I thought it was going to be something simple like just buy a LED or HIS.

Some MTEC ones HERE although I have no experience with what they look like but seem to get good reviews.

You could say that I didn’t search properly, but there again if you search and don’t have key words In your search tab you will miss a post or two.

However that said thank you for taking the time to post the link, much appreciated.

Bought a full set of OSRAM Cool Blue Intense will see what like they are over the next few days.

Done the interior lights and reverse lights with leds with good results. These were easy to do, and the fro t ones doesn’t require the faceplate to be removed from the main body of the unit before you take it out. The full lot comes out in a Oner

They could be the version that were always a bit yellow. I know there were two versions of DRL and that one was a brighter white than the other. I didn’t have them as I had halogen lights but I did notice the difference in DRL whiteness when I saw them on the road. Hopefully someone will come along and help you but I swear there was a post on here recently that discussed this.

I've had this car since 2015, brand new from the dealership, I know for a fact they were not that yellow before.
