Xenon auto-levelling issue

Having searched the foruns and the 'net in general, I cant see any other references to the symptoms I have...

The lights are moving up and down quite rapidly when first coming on, then stop at the lowest position, so visibility is about 5 metres.

They move together, at the same angle, so the individual light motors are working.

I have looked for the sensors and actuator arms in the wheel arches but can't clearly see. I suspect 1 of the armatures is giving silly readings, does this sound likely, or is it more likey a control module of some kind?

There is a setting for European light adjustment you can try switching off if the option is in you MMI, if the option is not there you need either to activate the option using the Carista Dongle and App or VCDS. Worked for me the lights stay at the higher position.

It does sound like a sensor issue.IIRC the B8 has 1 front & 1 rear sensor,located on the passenger side

I'm having a similar issue but they are moving together on start up but then they set themselves too high. It's like having permant main beam

Likely to be a sensor too?

I have found a few links to the locations of the sensors, but I definitely can't see them without removing the wheels.

I can find general directions but no pictures as yet.

I did clip a rather large pot hole last week which may have dislodged or broken the sensor.

@Gavin G I have the option in my Car > Exterior lighting > Light adjustment

Though selecting that points them permanently down, which may be slightly better than randomly flicking up and down for the moment.

There is wee white screws on the actual light casing top and side these can be adjusted aswell, read that somewhere but can't find where right now. The movement up and down at start up is normal.

do you pull away straight away? i find if i pull away when the light has just came on, one light will point to the ground and the other will be level :S

Do broken sensors bring up a fault code?

I've manually adjusted my headlights as low as it will allow but it's still a bit too high

I think that when the sensor goes it brings a fault up,but when the arm on the sensor snaps it doesn't
