My 'sources' have shown up Forza is available.
Had a quick search on gamespy and it says release date is today!!
Anybody got it already?

My official copy is on pre-order, 13th May I think is release date, I can't wait.

Other 'versions' are available now and from what I'm told, all is good.

Kev.

Do you think this will be a good buy, just fed up buying xbox games which turn out to be real let down.

Depends of if you like driving games or not, then if you like 'proper' driving games.

This should be the best simulation so far, and as MS is behind it, the game should make the most of the Xbox and live integration *should* be faultless.

I really can't wait for this one.

If you liked ToCa (I or II) I think you'll like this one. However, expect Forza to have alot more layers of gameplay, car customisation for one.

Kev.

I personally love PGR2, but also bought Need for Speed 2 and Burnout 3, which i just couldn't get into.

But this Forza sounds good.

I've got an Xbox, and then went and bought a used PS2 for GT4 (good buy!), and then bought the Driving force pro steering wheel for it, which is USB. The wheel will work with a PC without any drivers, does anyone know if it'll work on the Xbox?

WOuld make a difference to buy buying the game or not.

I might or might not have a copy of Forza already and may or may not know that it truly is a huge game that is very close to GT in the competition stakes. If you have played Gran Turismo and liked it you'll like this.....maybe!!!

Jay, at least you are straight to the point, i think, maybe. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

had a quick blast this morning and the replay of me driving like an idiot are superb!

felt a bit slow in the 3.2TT though.

will play more tonight and post my thoughts.

Ordered my copy, should be with me for the weekend. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ok.gif

Then we can mod our own S3's right Kev. Show these GT4 boys how it's done.

Well maybe in a month or two. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

no s3 unfortunately. well not that i've come across. i guess thats the american nature of the game.

i went for 3.2 tt. the other option is golf r32

the simulation is fantastic.

try driving with the aids off. its very tuff.

i've not got a steering wheel yet so driving with all the aids on against hard level is proving to be fun. still got to get the hang of accurate / slight steering and braking at same time.

was up till 3am playing it. so its not that bad /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ian, you need to get some sleep. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_2.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_2.gif

Think i'll be going for the R in black. (just like old times). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

My copy is in my hands now...

Late night me thinks, never bothed too much with the 'other' version I tried as you can't copy the game saves over /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This one sounds good.

2003 Audi #1 Champion Audi Racing RS 6 Driven by Michael Galati

Ok, got my copy yesterday, and it is fantastic.

Still crap at driving, cornering and braking, but getting there slowly.

Have bought an R32 and have added every professional engine and chasis mod, now around 400 KW.. with an acceleration of 9.1 . /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

nice car - will have to get my copy out again. had planned on an xbox free weekend /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

got my old lotus steering wheel out and i am finding it far harder to use than the control. the steering is just too hard to go in a straight line. back the control pad, where breaking and streeting accuratley is a problem.

doing the career thing /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif i went for the tt to start, but the mugen s2000 i won was a real handful on the hill course. as i said earlier the simulation is really spot on.
still havent spent enough time tuning stuff - but i am all about the instant gratification and when i cant win without tuning i guess i'll be forced to /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Anyone got to level 10 yet...

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes- although not played it in a week. Been playing Close Combat!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif and fifa street is a lotta fun too. TOOOO MAAAANNY GAAAMMMEESSS /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I used the NSX, Mugen S2000 and the TT i started with (all souped up engine wise - i don't bother too much with handling - well not so far!) which were all much faster than other cars to win all the races needed to get there. The only difficult one was the hill climbs in the Mugen S2000 where i came down to a great start and holding on.

Just won't let me race my heavily modded R32 on any of the level 10 races, might have to soup up that green MR2, it just sticks to the corners so nicely. What about your TT, are you able to use it on the new tracks.

I played in the arcade mode with my R32, and the other cars were Tuscans, F40, F50, and XJ220's. The R doesn't really handle as well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I found that the Subaur vs Impreza races are good, having unlocked Impreza Forza edition and kitting it up, this seems excellent for class A and B.

The Mugen S2000 is a bitch to drive fully loaded, but i'm just trying to get the best car in the class for the specific race.

There are a couple of nice speedway tracks, with only 3 bends, these are easy and net you between 5,000 and 24,000 per race, even my kids can do these, over and over again. Ch-ching.

The mugen civic is good, and the RS6 on the heavyweights, fully specced to around 650 KW is amazing, but corners quite poorly.

Just bought a 350Z track car, and fitted a supercharger (instead of the huge KW turbos) and seems more manageble for the Nissan Z car challenge.

Haven't done the classic cars yet, have you.

Still aint had time to play it or even check it out! DVD has just been sitting there since i downloaded and burned it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif

What, more copying!!

Just don't tell me in the future, i am a law abidding citizen, and have no wish to get dragged down to the gutter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Is it same PM as i sent you CJ? :)

Classic American car racing - tried it with the standards car and i couldn't get anywhere near them. NEed to earn some cash to spec it up. I spent a lotta cash on race tyres for all my favourite cars which was probably a waste of money in hindsight.

The impreza v evo's are my fav races too....anyway stop tempting me to stay in with it..its friday/beer night!!

Laters!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

for d class my detuned tt is kicking ***. once i have won the other 4 races will move on to c class and let you know how i get on,...

oh and still havent had to /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif about with tyre pressures etc YET.

I've just cracked level 17, money is really rolling in at this level enabling lots of mods.

My first mod on all cars though is top end gear box and lightened fly wheel. Then go and change the gear ratios so that you get the use out of all 6 gears, not just 5 like on some tracks, it really helps with acceleration off the line and out of the bends. There is no point in having 6 gears if you only get to use 5.

Kev.

Level 23 at present. As KevinT said, the money doesn't become an issue, seem to always have around 200K in the bank, so you can buy a car, then buy every single mod possible suitable for the race type. Especially getting the kids to race The Speedway on level 10 class A with a top form Sub or ferrari. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But i do hate some of the tracks, and have to now go and clear with golds some of the earlier tracks, it just has to be done. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just on the last of the 350Z races now, its that Hong Kong one with 3 laps. But looking at some of the level 20 races, with 8 laps, i'm just getting wasted out there. Must learn to corner better and stay on the track. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Any of you guys using x-link? Fancy setting up a lil race one day? Gamertag is jay4

Sorry guys, defo have not got enough time to play the game anyway, let alone on-line live thingy.

BTW, how does the x-link work, do you have to buy more gear, subscriptions, etc.

Been doing alot of testing with a few mates this afternoon on the modding front, where you have to mod a car to a specific class, i.e. Scooby to B1.

I persoanlly think it makes for a quicker, better handling car to reduce the weight as opposed to increase the power.

ALot of people just max the power to the maximum class allowed, but reduce weight first, then add what power mods you can till you top out the required class.

As said earlier, get an adjustable gearbox and change the ratios to suit the fastest track you run. Also played with bakes today, buy the best you can, no effect on class.

Kev.

Yeah, had noticed that, but always stuck the remap and exhuast in first. I'll try doing the weight reduction, carbon bonnet and rollcage instead for max class. What about the tyres, as soon as you put decent tyres the class jumps up, or you are just leaving as standard. Cheers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Yeah, tyres do affect class, so it would mean loosing some power to fit the mod.

Better tyres though do affect acceleration, cornering and braking so it may not be such a loss overall if you get better use of the power you have.

Not tried playiong with tyres or suspension yet. that's the next job.

I've been playing with afew cars, but yesterday I needed a maxed out C1 for a race. I took the TT I had in B1 and cut off the turbo and knocked the exaust down a level. The car was quick, but I had to drive the wheels off it to keep up.

Then took off 36KG (which put it into B3) so had to remove one of my power mods (Distributer symbol thing). Car was easily faster than the other now, perhaps a second quiclker on the Tscukba track.

I'll look at tyres and suspension today if I really can't be arssdd to do anything productive.

Kev.

TT for D and C class was pretty easy on all but one track, but weight reduction was key for me too. And for power restricted but races eg 300kw race, i used my apr celica lightened (i was gonna use clio but celica won out as i hadn't used it) and taken to 294Bhp and won everything very very easily. roll cage lightens too which is a pretty cheap mod.

As for money - i am always running out of money - but i don't have kids to earn me cash /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just done the rotory/mazda races. lots of fun as you had the cars all over your for 2 laps on laguna seca, took me about 10 goes to actually win, but was much more satisfying that killing them on the speedway track. Only thing is they give you another mazda for winning! Now need to go back and do some of the earlier stuff. only problem is the the RA track didn't copy over onto my xbox so i don't have that track at present!! Need to extract the image and locate the file and ftp it over!! Pain in the rear!

Still can't do the mid engine one from earlier . the nsx is pushing out over 600bhp and just lights up the tyres on any corner. Need to look into tuning to see if i can get it more managable. The mugen s2000 is even worse for handling. Anybody else got any ideas on the mid engine rear wheel drive challenge?

BTW - i am using the controller and not a wheel as i couldn't use the wheel i have to go in a straight line!
