Picked my car up from the dealer today after they changed the front discs and pads, all seemed well until a coupe of miles down the road a brake warning light popped up.
Only a few minutes from home so I continued and had a look under the car.

This is where the WTF moment happened as I look at the pad sensor connection to the loom it looked like it has been bogged up with araldite or something and quite obviously the connector had snapped lugs. Phoned the dealer and it’s going back in tomorrow to be ‘sorted’
Not happy and made them aware of the fact, we shall see what transpires tomorrow as someone’s going to get a verbal assault.

:wtf:Reminds me of the time part of my undertray flew off the bottom of my car after a service :grumpy: narrowly missing a vehicle behind !!! As it was just a little backstreet outfit just setting out in business I let them off

Sorry to hear that mate and I can imagine how annoyed you are.

It's just another example of why more and more people are walking away and using Audi specialists over the main dealers, not just for the cost savings but also for the work quality! A lot of the basic things done in a main dealership such as services/brake pad changes are done by the apprentice! My nephew was an apprentice for a Citroen main dealership in Chester, he said most of the time his work was never checked and it went straight back out to the customer!

After this little episode I’ll only use the local specialist I think. Second time I’ve been shafted by an Audi main dealer, 1st time about 6years a go on my S3 8P.
Hey ho live and learn

I'd be asking for all the money they charged in labour returned as a minimum!

I just don’t understand why people go back to Main dealers for servicing or repairs....time and time again we hear these horror stories. Once they’ve sold you that car they generally don’t give a stuff.

Get yourself a reputable Audi Indy and the work will be done properly.

No brainer.

I reckon this happens a lot and goes unnoticed, most people don’t check

I’ve had broken electric mirror joystick, ripped sound proofing in engine bay and a deep scratch on a motor bike.

If you think the service at a car dealership is bad, try and own a high van and see what it’s like at a commercial vehicle site, new depths of atrocities are committed as 99% are company vans and the drivers don’t care. Of course I’m the 1% that does. Last time my van went in it came out with 3 damaged alloys and the steering wheel way off centre. This was after the technician and work shop manager test drive it

Happy days

Thing is you hear this stuff time and again from the dealers, but what you don't and very rarely hear is the good stories, as people very rarely post about good service. Now I'm not condoning the shocking bodge that has gone on with the OP's car, but the techs need to be held responsible for this, as if they damage the car they need to admit this to their service manager, but most time they bodge it, then say they know nothing about.(was like that when i got the car!) and Just hide behind the dealership, where the poor man/woman on the service reception get's an ear full! In my eye's the tech should have to face the customer.

Over the years I've had Indy 's that have made a mess of thing just as bad as the main dealer, however the last 3 visits to my local dealer has been excellent including ripping my A6 apart to fit a the Audi front & rear UTR system, and could not notice any damage to the car not even a scratch, broken trim or rattle.

However the local body shop my Audi dealership use (part of their dealership group) I would not trust to pint a shed never mind a car, they effectively rote off my wifes brand new A3 October last year, and it should have been a minor repair, and the dealership had to reject the car and order a new one.

I think the issue they day's is people not taking responsibility for their actions and a "that i'll do" attitude, which in my eye's is getting more and more common these days.

Well, when you say Audi tech’s quite often it’s the spotty 17 year old apprentice that has serviced your car at Main stealers. All the gear but no idea.

In my experience, especially with the Indy that I use, they do a far superior job for a much lower price. They aren’t shielded behind the corporate curtain like main dealers are, and they rely on word of mouth and good service.

Nah, Indy for me every single time thanks.

I'm the opposite, I don't trust my local Indy, I would rather do the job myself. For example they had no idea what component protection was! and they don't have any licensed tools like ODIS. The dealership I use does have apprentices, as the young have to start somewhere and have to say that does not bother me.

A youngster working on my car wouldn’t bother me either, just as long as it’s not at a “couldn’t give a sh!t” Main Dealer.

My Indy is superb, maybe you should just find another.

I did they are just as bad, they say they are VW/Audi specialist but then don't have the latest diagnostic equipment, and as my cars are under 3 years old I want to make sure they have the correct servicing and any recalls & updates are applied. Already had an update to the instrument cluster which most Indy's would not be able to perform as they don't have access to the equipment or software.

I think the problem is there is just so much inconsistency between different dealerships and independents. I do prefer to do jobs myself, and I am rather obsessive, but I can't do everything and I have limited free time. Then again one of my hobbies is watch and clockmaking where a marred screw head is a major disgrace. As far as independents go probably the best thing is a personal recommendation from someone who knows about about cars and knows the difference between jobs done properly and those that are not. I can't stand the "It'll do" slapdash attitude. It won't do and if a part was broken on the OP's car then this should have been replaced. If it was me I would be furious and it would call into question just what else have they bodged? I would let Audi UK know about this dealer and their garage practices. I threatened a dealer (not Audi) with trading standards once.....

Thankfully the indy I use are fully up to speed with the latest updates/recalls and procedures etc. They are all ex Audi techs and go on the same courses and are given the same update bulletins as the Main stealers.

Oh, and they are much cheaper too.

Say what you want my issue is no one checks

Everyone makes mistakes, the workshop manager signs off jobs without checking. So who’s to blame. If you are paying £100+ per hour you deserve a service not a productivity based system where knock em out ASAP is king

If a dealership had a rep where everything was checked and didn’t leave until all was ok they would be booked for months but this isn’t the case most people don’t check so the bad service keeps on rolling

Please can you let us know the contact details of your Indy?
