Wrong radio aerial and loom

Hi everyone

I recently noticed my aerial seal had perished so I bought a new seal, but after removing the aerial from the car I noticed it was never plugged in! The radio still works which is strange, although it isnt great. Which would explain it all.

The part number off of the aerial fitted is 1J0035505A which looks like a mk4 golf one. I have found this part number to be the one that is needed 4B9051505.

But the cars radio plug near the aerial base and 4B9051505 plug dont look to be compatible.

Has anyone ever had this fault before?

Yep , bought mine in March and noticed the AM recepti0on was poor , undid the interior light and the Aerial had been disconnected

Dont know how / why but it was a quick fix

I've tried my current aerial the mk4 item plug and the cars loom plug and they arent compatible. Will the 4B9051505 be compatible?

I had to replace my aerial back in 2016...

Part number for the one I bought is 4B9051505

@tcg yeh googled the fault on my car and your build thread came up, so thanks for the heads up on the part number.

Hopefully it is compatible with my car.

Sorry I didnt update this thread, after the aerial eventually making it's way to me. All is good it fitted perfectly, radio is spot on, mk4 golf aerials are completely different.
