Wobbly rear wheel

Hi all.

The rear of my B6 A4 was making a rotational scraping noise, lifted it up on a trolley jack and the passenger side rear wheel with brake disc wobbles if I shimmy the wheel side to side (wheel bolts are tight).

I left the handbrake off so was able to rotate the wheel and it sounded pretty ropey, clicking and scratching.

Any ideas? I am assuming at this point wheel bearing?

Yes, bearings are defiantly a good starting point. If you drive for any distance/speed with it like that, you could do further damage....

Is it "wobbly" side to side and top to bottom - a sign that the bearing is well worn. Whats the other side like?

Thanks for the reply. Yes wobbly side to side, didn't actually check top to bottom.

I checked the other side also and there is no movement at all.

The near side bearings are the first to get worn, as they take more punishment from drains, potholes and clipping the kerb.

Bearing/hub replaced today and the car is now awesome once more
