Wiper blade fitting tips.

Just had to get some new wipers for my 03 18T Sport.
I had a quick look here and it seems that the "clip" on the blade is easy to break.And i do not want to do that!
Asked the guy in parts for any tips and was told "too many versions to comment on".
When liftting the clip/tab do i raise it verticle or beyond? And just Pull?
Advice please.

just unclip the catch, and it swings open without any further force, then when refitting the new ones its very fiddly to get connected again, perseverance and patience required....
