hi was just wandering what size of winter tyre can I put on my a3 saloon 8v 2014 sline tdi I am currently running the audi option 19 wheels will 16 wheel fit some says yes

thanks

What size discs does your car have at the front (I believe the largest fitted to the tdi is 312mm).

16" wheels will fit. I had 312mm front discs on my mk4 golf and ran 16" steelies during the winter.

Check the tyre pressure label stuck to the car. It should indicate the various sizes that will fit the car.

The A3 SE comes with 16 inch wheels as standard. Does the S line use different brakes?

the stickers says 205/55/16ms ?
225/40/19
235/35/19
the 205/55/16 winter on door panel I thought it was same sticker as on them all

205/55/16ms = mud and snow? i.e. winter tyres

I believe that the smallest alloys that can be fitted around the brakes of the S3 are 17 inch. Therefore, the sticker should not have tyre pressures for 16 inch tyres. Perhaps one of the S3 owners can confirm this?

It's not only the height of the wheel you need to consider - but also the width and offset. All 3 are important for brake clearance.

If you can get away with 16s then a decent set of winter tyres won't cost the earth.

You are indeed correct. My door sticker lists 205/50/17, 225/40/18 and 235/35/19

The OP doesn't have an S3 so the sticker is correct for his car showing a 16" tyre option.
