I noticed on the door card for my avant sline that 225 45 R18 tyres in mud and snow guise can be fitted to my car.

Does anyone know if they will fit over my standard rims with 245 40 R18 tyres on them?

I'm thinking if they fit ok they will give a slightly smooth ride than the 245 40 profiles, should I decide to go for winters.

The winter size alloys are mostly the same as the summers at 8 x 18 . There is a 7.5 x 18 alloy which I would of thought would be a better size for a 225 tyre, however it will go on an 8 inch wide rim.

17 inch tyres are cheaper and you can pick up a second hand set of alloys for not much money.

Thanks for the info. Do the 225 50 r17 rims fit a s line Quattro ok? There isn't a lot of space between brakes/callipers/wheel with my standard s line 18s.

I really dislike the standard Bridgestone s001s on my s line. They're noisy and not that comfortable in my view. I'm debating switching to 17s as I don't feel I need the extra grip of the 245 40 r18 so might go for something like Michelin cross climates.

I have 17 inch winter wheels on my car and it has 345mm brake discs.
