Windows media problem

Hi folks any ideas , the wmp has started playing my videos in audio only?
even if i try to down load a clip its audio only ? have tryed looking for the latest codec but it doesnt seam to be helping????

weird, is this ALL videos ? might be worth trying a different player, try the divx codec as this seems to be the most popular. BTW, is this on a laptop ?

As Olly_K mentions it means you're missing the codec used to encode the video. I never managed to download a single codec successfully through media player so ditched it in favour of VLC. I've never had a problem playing any vids through VLC and I haven't needed to download any individual codecs.

Have you tried Windows Media Beta 12?
Downloaded it, it does slow computer down more but seems pretty stable

Another vote for VLC! Although I have to say that my chipped xbox with media centre plays everything too!
