Hi
I'm thinking about getting my rear passenger and boot windows tinted on my car (A3 sportback 2014) can anyone recommend a good place to get this done, I live in the north west of england (Wigan).
Also has anyone ever had after market tints done that don't show up the silver line from the dot matrix? Or am I just living in a dream to think that it's possible to make them look completely factory fit.

1. No!
2. Yes!

Some are not that bad. had mine done and it was fine. rear heated window lines did show up but youcan'tt get away from that. It looked better than normal untinted so i would do it if i didnt have factory tints.

I used these guys on my A4 B7.
www.pentagonautotints.com/

It will show the silver line because the film doesn't adhere to the dot matrix bit properly

Completely disagree on them not being able to look factory fitted. Had mine done and guy did a mint job. When I sold the car 2 years after there still wasn’t a blemish, advice would be to look for someone whose got great feedback becaue it is possible, like anything.

Cheers,

Chris

How was it possible to make the rear window look like a factory tint?

On the side windows it can look factory but you will always see the heating elements in the rear. Factory tints are a film between the layers of glass and aftermarket is on the inside of the glass so the orange heating elements will be visible. Won’t be noticeable to the driver but just from the outside.
I’ve used pentagon before the one in Glasgow and the quality of the film is superb even after 4 years they looked good.

Yep, this! no matter how good the aftermarket tint it,even if its a "mint" job, its never factory. this was in another thread recently and the same was debated. Even the side windows on my 3-door A3 didnt look factory as the rear side windows have little stripes around the window, kind of like the rear heater elements but contorning the lines around the window.
