Evening all,

Just after abit of advice from you all as I've not long experienced an issue with my windows and the control panel.

So last Thursday I got my car washed (inside and out) and then on the Friday I had an MOT and service. The car passed the MOT but the garage went on to tell me I've got an issue with the master control panel for the windows. This was all new to me as a couple of days before it was working fine. This has caused a whole load of issues...

- The right hand button of the child lock of the windows is stuck down and the left one you can press down but nothing happens, none of the orange lights are on either.
- Drivers side window doesn't work at all.
- Front passengers window goes down and (sometimes) up (but not automatically when you click down)
- Rear drivers side doesn't work at all
- Rear passenger side goes down but doesn't go up at all.

To complicate things even further, an issue I was aware of was that the front passengers side window button had stopped working completely in the last few months. Has anyone experienced this before? Do we reckon it's a case of the electric are knackered or is it wishful thinking it's just the main control panel?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you need to take it back to the place that did the service. Although it is unlikely to be connected to a service.

I was contemplating that, but they wouldn't have any reason to touch that part of the car for the service.

Exactly. But I was suggesting that, as they had pointed out the fault they could give you a quote for fixing it. Did you ask them for that? I think I would have done,

Ah I got you sorry. They advised I went to another garage down the road as they specialise in audis in particular. I just haven't had the time to head down there and won't until Friday at the earliest unfortunately.

Have you checked it isn’t water getting in the door? Could be the drainage hole at the bottom of the door clogged with leaves and the water is wreaking havoc with the electrics.

Nope, not an Audi garage. Just one I've been using for a few years now.

It could be water getting in, I've got it booked in for Friday. The good news is that the buttons on both the rear doors are still working properly so I'm hoping it's just the master panel on the drivers door needs replacing. Anyone have an idea of how much they cost? It includes the buttons for the wing mirrors too. Had a brief look on the internet and not found much.

Thanks again for your input.

Try and find one on eBay or breakers.
Can’t see the panel will need coding so should be plug and play.
Other thing might be worth thinking about is taking it apart and cleaning/greasing it up to see if it fixes it.

I've already had a look on ebay without luck. Will give some breakers a call around me over the next few days. Thanks for the idea of greasing it up, won't hurt to give that a try before it goes in.

Just a little updated. Thankfully all that was needed was to put in a new master control panel and all is good again. The garage said there was no water damage inside and that it was more than likely just a coincidence it happened at the same time as car wash/service. Thanks for your replies.
