This may seem like a silly question, but why does everyone go for forge 007p? (or even any other aftermakret dv)

Are there any gains over the standard dv? or is it just a case of the standard ones seem to fail ?

Im trying to figure out whether or not to get one but there is nothing wrong with my standard dv(as far as im aware)so don't know if there is any point.

    Thanks, Lee.

Theres no power advantages the 007P is just a better design and more reliable, but many run the standard DV with no problems, and you can replace a a standard DV about 3 times for the same cost as a 007p. 007p does look nicer though :eyebrows:.

the spring can stick and the DV will be at least 7 years old

I think most people go for this particular DV as it is specifically designed to operate with the VAG engines (Closed Loop / Recirculation Design) whereas some other makes of Uprated DV's don't work in the same way. I have one on mine with the YELLOW SPRING and it's been absolutely fine. Some people also look at the FORGE SPLIT-R as well which can give you the "whoosh" noise and offers the flexibilty to cap it off to make it quiet but I've heard that these are not as good to be honest.

Sheep syndrome usually follows (get it?) on from success, for example the RSTT wheels looking superb.

The 007P is still a diverter valve, rather than an atmospheric dump valve. It means it will not cause any running issues with the VAG engines. They are reliable and can be uprated (spring colours) to allow for higher boost pressures from modified cars.

Exactly my arguement for the 007P. It gives adapability over it's life. I have had the same one going from 210 bhp, to 260 bhp, and onwards past 300 bhp. Same valve, different spring.

    It just works for me....

Unsure on where the car is going still, but seems to be head to just standard parts only chap. I have a green cotton filter, but for now, have no need for it to be mapped :)

Is there any way of testing the diverter valve, i have done boost checks on the lower part of my intercooler pipework but the upper bits where the dv is doesnt work because the air just escapes from the airbox/filter?

I have used forge as well as standard and other after markets. but went back to standard. as it does the job just fine. I am runing full stage 2. with no issues for over a year and stage one before that. the car keeps the boost up with no issues. plus the rs4 2.7T uses two of these so If there was a fault then AUDI would have redesigned something stronger. ps I have seen them on another RS4 runing close to 600BHP. :)

I may pop into tuningwerkes as it is only down the road from me. Are you local to croydon Troopa?

I took my dv off today and had a bit of a play, when i push the piston up and put my finger over the vacuum.. the piston slips down hhalf way then holds, then when i let go it will drop the rest of the way. Is this normal or is it leaking?

S3ko4 i remember you saying at ace cafe you had a standard dv, but at the moment i seem to be having boost issues and am trying to find if the dv is the problem, my boost seems to hit 1.4 bar then drop to 1.0 straight away. Some times it drops to about 1.2 and holds. Although today i see it go to 1.5 bar and drop to 1.2.

Yes they do but i went there to get a trial map before which ended up being more hassle than it was worth. I couldnt comment on the actual mechanical work they do though.

Reuben at Tuningwerkes is a top guy. Tell him Troopa sent you and he'll look after you. I've known him for years now after he worked on my bro's car back in the day and he's good friends with couple of my friends.

I'd recommend Dean at 4rings (www.4rings.co.uk), they're a mobile outfit based near dartford so not far from you. Very good service and good prices too.
