Whine on cold start.

I have a 2007 PD170 Quattro that makes a whine on cold start for maybe 1/2mins then stops.

The noise itself doesn't fluctuate with engine RPM, I did wonder if it could be the clutch release bearing but it doesnt change in pitch when the clutch is depressed so doubt it.

I just replaced the EGR cooler that has been cracked at the exhaust manifold end for a while, I assumed the noise was maybe related to that but it's not.

Ideas?

No ideas but mine has been the same since the EGR valve was replaced !

Could be your air con pulley mate. Once warmed up it stops. My car did the same and that's what it was.
