Hi,
I am looking at getting the Revo intake for my S3.
There are 2 versions, one with the Cam coat and the other with a powder coat finish.
What are the real world benefits of the cam coat as it is more expensive and am I going to notice any difference between the two? Currently at APR stage 1+ With standard but smoothed air box and VWR panel filter.
Cheers

I've had the Camcoated version for a month now and it's a great piece of kit, a lot of fun! The Revo CAI is one of, if not the best CAI on the market for the S3. In regards to your question it's purely down to budget to be honest mate. I spoke to Gavin who's been a VAG mechanic for over 20 years and is the head mechanic at VAS Motion a VAG specialist garage of whom said you'll only start to notice the difference on longer runs or if you're driving hard. This is because the Camcoat (a thermal resistant coating) will help keep the temperatures down meaning there's less loss of horsepower due to heat soak. The cheaper alternative is to just buy the powder coat version and then heat wrap it which will have the same effect, both versions come with a heat shield as well to help tackle the issue with it being an open induction system.
