Is the intank failing? you still need a decent intank if you go inline... it acts as a lift pump... also, this fueling issue... is it the AFR leaning out at high RPM? have you logged injector duty cycle as you are running 550cc injectors?... I run 630cc injectors and the Ibiza Bill recently built with a GT3071 ran 730cc injectors...
If going lean top end I would check both fuel pressure (in your case currently it should read 3bar+boost so 4.4bar on full boost), if not then the pump is at fault and an line is the way forward but make sure the intank is good to as it won't fix an ailing intank pump prob...
DA-31 is the no-brand equiv of the 044... your choice of course, I run a DA-31 and its cheaper than the 044...
