Soo, Turns out I don't have an EA113 as I though after the guy I bought it from told me it had a belt not a chain. I've only realised after I've gone to change my cam follower and noticed my HPFP doesn't look like it should! Seems odd though as the car came with a receipt at 50k odd miles for a water pump and belt change. Anyway, does anyone know if CDNC refers to a gen 1 or gen 2 EA888? What are the differences? Are the revised cam followers (with a roller) not an issue anymore? Should I be rushing out to have the cam chain tensioner changed? Can't see any record of it being done but if it hasn't failed by now (just over 100k) will it ever? I can't see any evidence of the infamous oil consumption recall work having taken place. It does use a bit of oil but not a huge amount. Just slightly concerned as I was under the impression the ea113 was the more reliable engine. Thanks in advance
I have the 2014 CNCD and that is the EA888 gen3 The type 3 has 2 sets of injectors. Direct and behind the inlet valve. This has a cam chain too What year is your car? https://www.motorreviewer.com/engine.php?engine_id=119
Yeah only one set of injectors on mine, its a 2009. Would be nice to know which variant of EA888 I have and anything in particular to look out for
