Which adjustable tie bars?

get the forge ones they seem okay, dont know if Dave still makes the rear tie arms but you could always go with that as they have good reviews.

concerning HR i wouldnt touch them at the moment as they seem to have dwindled abit quality wise aside from there ARB which are pretty nifty
 
I have the compbrake ones on my S3 but haven't put any real miles on the car yet to know how well they perform.

Have you seen these eBay ones? I am not sure if they are adjustable or not as the main description says nothing but the text in the body does, may be worth an email to see.
 
Cheers guys unfortunatey Daves not able to make them at the moment, yeah the forge ones do seem like the ones to get but at nearly £100 more than the compbrake's I wonder is it worth it?

Good to know theres somebody running the compbrake's what did the quality of them seem like mate?
 
s3 Hoggy - They look the part and feel pretty solid, for the money they were at the time (£189) I have no complaints, I kinda wish I had bought two sets now.
 
The compbrake ones look to have a solid rose joint at one end whereas the others have rubber/poly bushes... would get a bit of noise from that I suspect on a road car..

I've got the KW ones Hoggy, been on the car for about three years now with no problems. Read a few horror stories about them failing but touch wood mine have been fine!

I've just ordered 2 pairs of the gruvenparts ones. I went rose jointed but they do poly ones now too. Went for black of course + adjustable drop links and the headlight adjuster bracket. I would have got dave's ones if I was in the UK but the shipping was mental when he quoted.

I have KW's too... they have been fine... one thing to watch out for though is to make sure that after you have had the alignment sorted is to check they did the adjuster nuts up properly... I had my car on the ramp for an unrelated bit of work a week or so after I had the alignment done and one nut was loose...

The breaking of ties bars (even uprated ones) could still be due to the siezed bush issue or even the adjusters coming loose... its worth inspecting stuff like this from time to time IMO

Hmm ive been looking at them too lately but was unsure they seem good quality (gruvenparts tie arms) that is did you get the 6 or 7lbs ones... im thinking of spherical ends not the ones with poly bushes...
 
I went spherical/rose jointed ones. Got the two sets as I figured it's easier than doing the bushes on the top two heh. Going to fit them at the same time as the 6 pots, 20mm rear arb, new front end bushes/ball joints/tie rod ends and braided lines. Should make a nice difference...

Oh yeah, it will im just gonna change all the bushes to powerflex ones get the same Tie arms you got + some bilsteins b14's i can only wonder how the ride will look..

on a side note i think your S3 will look crazy stance wise
 
Thanks alot for the help lads, I won't be buying the bars untill mid next month, I'll check back in with Dave before I buy but if he's still unable to make his I'll buy KW's
 
I've had a KW one snap, and I know of at least one other person on the forum who has had one snap as well.

Mine just snapped straight through the solid threaded bar in the centre of the tie bar. Happened at about 70mph on the A19 in North Yorkshire. Caused no end of problems.

Now have a set of Forge ones from Damien.
 
I am cautious of any that have the threaded part in the middle. To me it seems like you're putting the weakest part in the section that needs to be strongest?

I had some KW adjustable bars, one snapped on me.......the bolt sheared in half...NICE. Send them back for a refund if you can...not worth the potential issues they can cause.

I now have some of S3Daves stainless ones, and from the looks of the quality and the size not even Chuck Norris himself could snap one, and he counted to infinity twice you know.

The silver project ones are supposed to be fairly decent not seen no stories on line of them failing, a few people on here use them and il probably be ordering a set soon myself

Great cheers TJ. I’ll probably get these. The seller seems highly rated but can’t find a review of these particular parts. I just hope the price doesn’t reflect the quality.
 
They have been going for a while, you might get a better price of the silver project website

Just looking at them, makes you want to stay away from them.

There a critical part of the car and hearing and seeing stories in the past of standard and other arms failing, why would you possibly want to buy the cheapest out there that look poor in quality.

Yes, people are running these without any problems, but would you like to be driving about thinking "what if"..

I was probably one of the last few to buy a set of S3Daves Adjustable Arms before he passed away. These arms where made quite a few years after he suffered a number of failures so where made for no repeats.
However running these for a good few years and some chipped powder coating areas, surface rust appeared near the welding. I didn't want to take any chances so purchased another set.

I went for Stance Adjustable Arms and there hugely different in terms of being more beefier. There's extra reinforcement to the arms forks and stronger welding.

Im more confidence in running these than S3Daves arms.

These Silverproject arms are literally half the price of other aftermarket arms which makes you think.... Why?

Where can I buy the stance+ stuff, when I go to their site it’s just a logo and nothing else. Also do people fit them on top or on bottom?

Got a set of these babies and they've been no trouble, been on the car for 3 years and covered 10k miles along with a few trackdays, the inner bushes that are supplied with the bars are a bit soft but fine.

Bottom, better scope for wheel alignment
 
Silver project ones have been holding up fine for me.

Although we don’t get grit on our roads.

I’ve driven up and down twisty mountain passes, bumpy roads and many motorways... then I put in asjustables at the top too. Have done the same. No breakages.

I can vouch for the SIlver Project’s good quality for sure.

Have you got them top and bottom? Suppose you can buy two sets of them for the price of one set of 'higher quality' ones.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I’m stuck into two minds, the stance+ do look very sturdy and are cheaper than the forge or kw ones but then the silver projects ones are VERY cheap. I won’t be doing track days only a bit of “fast road” now and then.
