Where to buy new Fob?

hi guys,
I need a new key fob for my car. where is the best place to purchase one? looked on ebay but can't seem to get my part number.

my part number is.... 4D0.837.231A 433.92MHz

p.s it needs to be a 3 button fob.

They're about 40-50quid for the fob part iirc.

As long as you have the same style it will work, but you will need VAG COM to code it up.

i currently have one which i brought from ebay but the code is 4D0.837.231K (not A)
this will not code to the car. could it be a faulty fob?

batteries seem brand new. i'll replace and try again.

The flip key with these part numbers are all interchangeable:

4D0 837 231
4D0 837 231 A
4D0 837 231 B
4D0 837 231 N
4D0 837 231 R

so does that mean the new one I have brought will not work?

new part number 4D0 837 231 K
original part number 4D0 837 231 A

I think that the '4D0 837 231 K' key is for year 2000+ A6/S6/RS6 & TT's.

think you might be right as it did say A6/TT in small print under the part number.

looks like it's going back on ebay until i find the right one.

is it hard to recode?

not if youve got 2 keys
turn ign on with first key
close door and lock manually with 2nd key, press unlock button wait 6 secs press unlock again and its done
swap keys and repeat but press unlock twice then wait and press again
