Wheel size help please

Hi got a standard height a3 sportback and wondered what size wheels to go, I was thinking 17s look ridiculous lol

I had 18s on my golf and they were a nightmare any suggestions as I want 19s and am unsure what size tyres I would need and how much I can drop it by.

I'm going round in circles as I hated the 18s on my golf mk 4 but want the right look, yet still want it to be drivable as I'm aiming at 350ish bhp when finished

Any help would be great

Why would 17s look stupid? The problem with getting bigger wheels is, it amplifies arch gap on cars running standard suspension, so it's upto you at the end of the day.

Will it not be worse with stiffer/up rated suspension, to be fair I've only lowered a few cars on springs and had a mk1 on Koni adjustable but that had 15s on
As for 17s I've got 17s on at present and I'd like to go bigger.
