I had my car cleaned today and the jet washer managed to lift off the paint on both rear wheels.

The car is a 2013 A3 2.0tdi Sport model with 18” wheels polished and painted.

I spoke to a wheel refurb place in Kent with an excellent reputation and they advised it would be around £100 per wheel for removal, car storage, powder coating the wheels, more for diamond cut and paint. I’d probably want to get all four wheels done as there is some light corrosion on all wheels.

If I buy a set of aftermarket alloys from a vendor on eBay, it’s £450.

Am I better to fix my existing wheels, or replace them with new aftermarket and sell the originals, cost would be the same.

I'd expect to pay more than £100 per wheel (Thames Valley area) just to have them painted, never mind all the other work. In all honesty polished wheels are likely to look much the same, again, in a few years - it's just what happens in this climate, and if you get any sort of stone chip/kerbing it will be quicker. Aftermarket are an unknown quality ?

I’d go for refurbing, but as noted likely to be more. Suggest you get a firm quote for all 4 before going ahead.
How much are they charging for storage? Do you have anywhere you ca leave it up on stands and just take the wheels in?
Also get more quotes of course.

Where was this in Kent, cos £100 a wheel seems pretty steep

The issue is that if I refurb all four wheels, I have to leave the car with the place (unless I buy another set of wheels).

Powder coating is the cheapest option, but it’s all the logistics of storing a car with no wheels and the moving wheels and tyres around around several spaces up to 20 miles apart.

If I take the car to a one stop wheel shop, then it works out at £100 per wheel just for powder coating (including removal, storage, fitting etc)

Might just buy some used S-line alloys and sell the old ones. The car isn’t a performance model.

Dropped the car off in Bromley today, £320 to powder coat all four wheels including storage and fitting of tyres.

Have opted for an Audi Anthracite colour with a sparkle in it. Will post pics when done.

If you're paying £175 for a single wheel refurb, you my friend have been fleeced.
I had a pair of 19" diamond cut s3 wheels refurbed for £150.

Those wheels are a nice design and easy to wash. Keep em!

I had four 19 inch wheels powder coated a dark grey for £200. This was a special offer but usually £300.

But for just one you could use the spare.

The spare is a skinny which is limited in the miles you can use it for , only really designed for emergency use . Seem to recall it was less than 100 miles use at 50 mph max

Yes, restricted to 50mph, but should be fine for a day or two. I ran on my spare for a few days when I had to get pothole damages corrected and new tyre fitted. (But I would admit not lots of miles)

I've got the exact same wheels as you and mine need a refurb too, I'm very interested to see how they turn out because I need mine done desperately.

I got my car back from the wheel place today. In the end I asked them to pick a colour “that looks alright”. They chose “Audi Graphite” or some such. Ended up costing £66 per wheel.

I’m pleased with the result, I actually prefer how they look compared to stock, as I have never been a fan of the slab side diamond cut style. (Used car, right price at the time).
