Well with xmas over and done with for another year and most of our pockets have taken a real battering , what's on your to do list for 2017, maybe it's a few more mods or is it going to be a long list of essential maintance / repairs.... then a few mods after that...
I have a drawn up my short list today, need must so its a case of repairs first followed by essential maintaince and go from there....
So I have to replace my Quattro DMF & Clutch asap.
Replace the rear coolant flange/housing on the back of the cylinder block that's loosing coolant quite a lot now.
Replace the Aux belt tensioner that's become very noisy .
I'll probably do all three of those at the same time as its a real nightmare doing that coolant part as access is all most imposible but with the gearbox out of the way it can be done with a lot more ease.

the old bus will need a cambelt & water pump change shortly so another job for early next year.
All 4 tyres are getting low now so maybe worth changing to 19" rims and getting new rubber to fit rather than cough up for new 18" rubber and only using them for a short time.
another sevice will be due but that's normal usage.
hoping to get my new front bumper and rear valance all fitted but holding back to see if the RS4 sill extensions are doable.

I think that's about it for me for 2017 unless something else comes to mind....

have a good one chaps

I definitely need to do cambelt and water pump not had it done in my 4 years of owning car. Then rear discs and pads and a ****** good clean as i'm now starting to get mucked up just opening a door.

Hi mate what mileage is your car now, mines on 132k now but i am not planning anything as serious as you .

To be honest chap i'm a little bit disappointed that I have to do these jobs now , my avant is now on 56k , I know the clutch is a wear and tear item and 56k is not too bad for a Quattro DMF and clutch , but the coolant leak is a pain ( another known issue) and I had expected the aux belt tensioner to last a lot longer , but its an audi so kinda goes with the territory I suppose.
It's a great car , goes like stink and have no immediate plan to part company with it , so as much as it is a bit of a drain on my wallet at the moment I still think it is a worth while investment.

First thing for me is to source a re-built engine and get it going again.

For me early on in the year she is due a service, its been two years since the brake fluid has been changed so thats due too, so im thinking of upgrading to braided lines at the same time.
Theres not much left really i want to get done, 2016 was a good year for the car, she got quite spoilt.
Possibly save up a few pennies and look into getting either a shock and spring combo or coilovers, i also want to do the rear arb, was keeping an eye on the 032 motorsport one until it shot up in price, so will most probably have to go rs4 instead.

Cupra R splitter is waiting for me to get off my backside!

First I need to get it back off the insurance company, who're fixing the badger shaped hole in the front.

Then:

- Refurb the wheels so the tyres stay up
- Change the thermostat
- Get the cam chain checked
- Change 6 of the 8 front control arms (I'll probably do all 8)
- Get a hunter alignment
- Fit the Brembo disks and pads I've got in the garage
- Change the rear brake hoses and fluid
- Check the HPFP follower

Then I can actually start tuning it and fit a decent stereo!

My Avant will be due a service soon, so that's up first.
Then I need to replace the front lower arms and start sourcing a big brake conversion as spirited driving tends to cook the brakes!
Come summer it's time to mop the paint as it's quite swirly, and see how it cleans up before it ends up in the bodyshop to have some of the everyday dents and scratches cleaned up.

Service, timing chain£££, would like a decent head unit for Bluetooth and dab if anyone has any ideas. Repair the drivers side window regulator, refurb the alloys.
That will do for now

In all honesty I don't know what I want to do to her now as once my front BBK is fitted then it's just the rears I have to get upgraded. I suppose I'll do the usual oil changes and anything else that needs doing service wise.

Oh and I have to get a scuff repaired where the front bumper meets the front wing as some great driver decided he/she would show me how crap a driver they were last year whilst the Avant was in a near empty car park.

- Get her on the road
^ Think this might be the most important one haha nearly there now!

- Fit Cupra R splitter
- Get smoked side repeaters again as my last ones were destroyed when cutting wings.
- Get another set of DRL headlights as my first set was destroyed by a "specialist electrical engineer"
- Get a none aftermarket (or etleast not aftermarket looking) spoiler
- Retint everything limo black on the rear, darkest legally allowed on the front with a sun strip
- LED's in all the lights I haven't yet done which I can see being a very tedious job as I've gone through loads of "canbus bulbs" which aren't
- Maybe get CSR skirts, haters gonna hate but I think they go well with Cupra R splitters
- Get an intercooler
- Get a turbo back exhaust
- Have it mapped and prey for the 200 numbers

It's a b6 by the way but it has a b7 front end so I think I'm entitled to post here haha.

I'm miffed off about having to buy some more wheels that will fit over my massive brake calipers, gutted my rotors wont go over them in the size i have, so they'll be up for sale soon, :sob:

All I am going to do is Service it and wait till the fair weather gets here, drop the top and hit the roads and go touring North Devon and Cornwall.

Top of my list is
Upgrade the oil pump thingy
Refurb alloys
Fit b5 perches
Front link kit

Then in order of what bargains I find
Xennon or aftermarket led strip headlights
Hybrid or 2260vk turbo
Fmic
Rear arb
Less restrictive exhaust
Sachs clutch and dmf
£££

After that it's going to be pretty much how I want it 240-260hp, no knocks at the front and being able to see in the dark

Sounds like it's going to be a weapon!

You running a 1.9tdi or 2.0tdi?

Only reason I'm asking is I'm not sure about the 2.0tdi but with a 1.9tdi allot of people suggest upgrading internals when going over 230bhp although it's torque rather than horsepower that will cause problems.

If I could start over I'd probably go for a 2260vk as it'll be more reliable than a hybrid, guarantee that turbo would lead me on a slippery slope to bankruptcy though as I know I'd want to use it to it's full capabilities haha.

1756vk is supposed to be a good around town turbo because it kicks in at a lower rpm but I have no experience with this turbo and you'll probably find allot of conflicting opinions whichever way you go when it comes to turbo's.

Must say I'm very interested in this! Probably a way off but please post about where you go with the car down the line.

Mines the 2.0 170 just remapped at the minute. Il keep my threat full of pics when stuff happens. It's just which to do first ideally turbo last and clutch and fmic and exhaust first but that's no fun lol

Tried lots of interior bulbs of eBay but ones I like now are Halfords new technology ones, white 6000k not to blue and have a three year guarantee and don't multiflash, all interior ones don't show errors anyway, try them

Cam chain this weekend, then I need to pull my finger out and get my boot build completed to fit my air suspension :)

Drive it is the only thing I've planned in doing so far , will wait and see I've being toying with a few ideas but not hundred percent sure about them

Rear Anti Roll Upgrade
Full De-Chrome
Phillips Ultra Diamond something 5000k upgrade for fogs
LED upgrade for DRLS
Max allowable Tints

Anything i should be doing that i've missed?
(Fingers crossed), currently as far as mechanics go, all is sound! :salute:

Most important stuff on my list are:
-Get the oil pump balance shaft sorted
-New DMF & Clutch as they're starting to wear down
-New front discs+pads, New rear discs+pads

Then hopefully some mods:

-RS4 rear sway bar
-New wheels (don't know what yet, maybe 19" rotors?)

So far ive done:
LED interior lights
Puddle lights
Footwell lights
Xenon headlights
Led side lights
Cruise control
Windows tinted
Black alloys
Ambient light

Need to do:
LED drl
xenon fog lights
Alloys back to silver (not too keen on full black car)
Few panels need painting, got a chip of paint about the side of a £2 coin missing out of a rear door. im guessing thats a full re spray on that door? Anyone know rough price of what that costs? Also need the front bumper re spraying aswell.

mine would be to get rid of the b7 and upgrade to something newer.

nothing wrong with the B7 variants , they just get slated more than they really deserve, other cars have just as many probs aswell.
I love my B7 avant, best looking model to date for me...

fair enough , from my experience newer is not allways better though hence why I went with a 8 year old B7 rather than a new or nearly new replacement, I don't find any of the audi's after the B7 appealing in the least and with so much technology involved I just don't need it , S6 (2008) also nice but that's about it , personal choice then really.

Gearbox service and sort out the stereo.

Bought some H&R springs last month so im just waiting to get them fitted with some 10+15mm spacers which are waiting to go on at the same time. Probably try get booked into get done next month.

Recently discovered a coolant leak as last week I popped the bonnet and noticed level was below minimum. Can see a few drops splashing below the expansion tank coming from somewhere near an outlet. Not looked into it too much yet but hope its nothing expensive:/

Also car has turned 80k this week so im sure expensive things are on the way. Cam belt was last done at 56k i think so might want doing this year what do you think or anything else you recommend might want doing soon?

Other than that I love the quattro avant :)
