Looking for a new car in the enar future but im stuck for Ideas.

Suddenly, ive developed an attraction to the 8L s3.

whats have you guys driven which is fun to drive???

S3's are NOT fun Marty :p

Go get a cheap 205 GTI, knocks the socks off every "fun" element of anything I've ever driven.

People say they are old, people say they are slow, those people are gay.

Caterham 7 or Westfield a-like with moderate power and narrow tyres, as pure fun as driving gets. Clearly they require some compromises! Best on a dry day and ideally a race track but still fun on the road. They hire them out on road and track if you want to try one. Grins guaranteed!

I agree on the 205 GTi and similar cars (Clio RS), the MX5 is fun at reasonable speeds, S2000 if you want similar but faster. You dong need a big budget to have fun that's for sure.

Ferrari 360M! It was rather fun to borrow one for 20 minutes to deliver some egg tarts to my staff at work. But I'd never ever buy one, its a rich man's toy, impracticality, loud, high maintenance! I'd be afraid to drive it quick if it was my £100 odd K needed to buy one. But my own personal cars, my Golf mk2 16v is quite fun, it's just enjoyable to drive when I get in, and sticks to the road like glue!

mine was a professionally converted escort RS turbo'd engine converted mark 2 XR2!
kent high lift cam, superchip, side exit exhaust, koni adjustable struts and tarox brakes!
looked just like an XR2 on a B plate, but what a sleeper!
this thing used to shoot flames, and beat just about anything!
the only draw back was it used to snap seat frames from the g force, (even recaro"s from a fiesta RS turbo), eat tyres, and drink like an alcoholic!
it was insane, and used to spin in 4th gear in the dry! lol

True, a friend had one with a tuned Mi16 engine in it, that was fun.
R8 v10 is a little bit fun, other than that you need another forum ;)

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder - drives like a A6 goes too ****** fast. Some people say they look gay but at 170+MPH when the grass turns to a blurr and the tarmac is the only thing you focus on, with the wind in your hair it is immense

personal car G60 Corrado 200+bhp drove it everyday for 7 years and loved every second of it, especially abroad. close 2nd place 306 S16 with K&N and blueprinted engine.

well I might get slatted for this but..........................This was the most fun car I have ever owned.

started off a very clean 1.4gta, but with a 1.8 Vvc engine, few trick mods, suspension changes etc, mainly standard engine, but used to run 14.0 flat 1/4miles @99mph all day long full interior too.
should never of sold it really, but when somebody took it off my hands for £1800 needs a must and all that.

Not owned many cars, but the one I remember as being the most "fun" was my 2001 MK5 Fiesta Zetec-S for its go-kart likeness.
Played around with it a little, Shawspeed cams.etc

That quality.

How would you feel if you got done by a rover lol

I think im going to start looking for something a bit more raw. with less driver aids.

I would like a 182/172 but i swore I would never own another clio again!! to problematic.

Im looking at a mk2 golf, corrado, or something old skool....

My Peugeot 106 rallye. 385bhp + 860kgs = Scary fun!

Mate its priceless, it used to **** all over my mates civic type R :)I know what you mean about the clio thing, I used to have an old phase 2 1.8 16v, it was for ever breaking down or having problems. but on the over hand a had a 172, which I owned for just over a year, it cost me nothing. it never broke! Unfortunately the lad I sold my metro to, sold it to a lad in mancester who ran out of talent and it ended up like this. To say I was gutted that somebosy had 1. wrapped the roof in black, and 2. completely destroyed months of my hard work is an understatement.

That surprises me. I drove a Gallardo Spyder and didn't rate it. Far too boring and easy to drive. Sounded pretty good looks nice and the E-gear is a great gearbox, that's about it. However, the interior is absolutely awful for a car at that price, it's basically an Audi interior, dreary and boring. The 4WD is too planted too, you can't slide it about like you can with a RWD car, it also feels heavy to turn in because of it. 4WD takes all the fun out of cars imo. Fast doesn't equal fun imo.

thats great, its weird because i like it for all the reasons you dont. its a true car where you can drive it daily and not be uncomfortable and have outright performance. I've also been in a 600bhp GT2 and that is a vicious animal, more to your taste i think, although i love it too, its purely something for the weekend

Fair enough, I can see why it would be desirable to have something that you could drive fast like that daily, but I'd never say it was fun.

Never driven a GT2, driven my mate's GT3 RS and that was good fun (not a huge fan of the manual gearbox though, I prefer flappy paddles).

I've always said since owning one that theres nothing out there that can touch a Clio 172 in terms of speed : fun : cost ratio.

In terms of the 'modern' hot hatch, I still maintain you cant have more fun for the money than one of those.

Will also chuck in a '+1' for the 205 as well though - i've had two Mi16'd ones in the past, one of which was a track car. These cars need a fair bit of TLC these days though, ours ended up neglected and rotten. Mi16'd ones are a bit '10 years ago' now though - more current pathway is with the 2.0 8v turbo engine.

Taking it a step beyond that, in terms of sheer brutal 'RAAAARRRRRRness' - my Evo wins hands down. But with that kind of fun, comes great expense......

I had a 172, I really really loved it as a totally standard car it was perfect.

The problem with a lot of vehicles is when you start modifying them you lose a lot of the practicalities and normalities that makes them enjoyable to drive. As a totally standard car my 172 was well up there with my 205 GTI.

I sold mine (1 owner from new, 82K, immaculate) for £1300. Nobody wanted it because it was Monaco blue.

if you liked the GT3 you have to find someone with a GT2 totally different league, sooo quick. the paddles on the lambo is the best part when you downshift the noise was amazing.

Yeah the noise was good from the Gallardo, especially with a Tubi exhaust on. I still didn't think it was fun though, capable yes, fun no.

Wouldn't mind a go in a GT2, am all about bikes now at the moment though. Absolutely nothing can touch them for Fun:£ ratio!
Flappy paddles

stick shift all the way!
Stick shift? Are you American? I believe they're called 'manual' :)

I agree. Gallardo's are fun at very fast speeds, but the novelty of that wears off. I'll stick with my 996 GT3, fast enough with loads of feel.

Come on man|!!! thats a death wish.....

Thats like sitting in a supermarket trolley thats running 2 NOS tanks lol

ive been lucky enough to drive lots of cars that have been immense fun, but if i had to narrow it down to the one that sticks out most i would have to say a nissan skyline 33 gtst in the rain whilst in Ipswich on a trip to gti international!

im massively biased towards Lambo tbh, but i see your point for a 30min thrashing it was amazing, but for the price you could get bored after a few months if you didnt drive it properly

I kid you not Mazda MX-5 1.6. Brilliant fun

I've got an S2000 for sale :)

im sorry but I cant help thinking that Welly's old S3 must have been great fun to drive....

Bumble was dangerous, fun is an element of that danger but all that power with stock brakes and suspension is not cool :p

I have been in Bumble, I love it but it is totally retarded.

Yeah I heard welly used to run some cheep chinese tyres or something crazy like that? think he had a few marbles missing to do that. If it was setup properly I think it would be fun then.....

I loved my old polo G40 rare as hens teeth, weighs nothing and mine had nearly 220bhp by the time I finished with it, was far from standard but an amazing machine and I just love superchargers. If I had space at home I would have another in a heart beat..

my mate had a Group N one fully stripped was the most mental thing when you're overtaking Porsche's haha

he also had one of them limited blackberry type colour ones, proper rare

Like a few have mentioned, Clio 172, very fun and nippy car!

My old scooby STI, was running 340bhp 350lbs of torque car was rapid and sounded good, also my mates Rover SD1 old school V8 is good fun, i get to drive that on some occasions! now that gets alot of attention straight through exhaust system, letting the V8 purr!

My old Civic 1.4. Same era as the EK9, I don't remember the exact model code. It had NO power at all and awful tyres but it slid so progressively in corners and demanded I learnt to carry speed. I have got lazy since I got my car with a real engine.
