Whats everyones car history?

Some of you young 'uns are either earning far too much, or still living with your mums, I'm guessing the latter.
1984 Datsun 100A
1985 Polo 900cc
1986 Golf GTi convertible (first proper car)
1988 Diahatsu GTti (company car, excellent fun until the turbo went)
1990 Suzuki Swift GTi (company car, excellent fun again, 4k servicing though)
1993 Astra 1.8 16v Cesaro (company car, terrible handling)
1996 Golf GTi Mk3 slowest GTi of the all (company car)
1999 Current Audi A4 2.8Q

My car history is pretty modest compared to some of you young pups!

Passed my test at 17 but didn’t own a car until 21.

The wait was worth it though as I was given a B reg Nissan Micra by my generous uncle. Picture this, a battered green 988cc Micra DX with beige interior... as you can imagine I had to put up with some serious abuse.

The abuse didn’t stop there as I moved on to a grey F reg Fiesta XR2 in 1998. Thankfully I wrote that off in 2000 and quickly acquired a Silver K reg VW Golf GTI that I modded and owned till December 2004.

I finally saw the light in January 2005 and having purchased my own flat along the way it was finally time for a decent motor.

I’ve owned the S3 for two years now and have so far resisted the temptation to modify it, well for the moment anyway.

I was born in 1975 btw - enjoy the pics, sadly I have none of the Micra.

having been in the UK for 3 years, I've owned 1 Nissan Micra, 3 Corsas (1.0 12v, 1.4 16v, 1.6 16v) and and Audi A3 1.8T.

Currently own the 1.0, 1.6 and A3

Passed test at 17.

At 17 got company 206 GLX, 1.4. Rubbish car but thrashed it (new gear box, bags of tyres and Brakes)

20 bought a New fiat punto  bad idea, good car, nippy but rattled and squeeked all over.

23 bought my baby A3 1.8 Sport, new alloys, centre arm but thats about it.

Think it maybe a Golf or a S3 next

(1989) 1986 Vauxhall Nova 1.0 Base Model @ 17. ist car...great...but boring!

(1990) 1990 Vauxhall Nova 1.4 SR, bought new just before my 19th birthday.
Had it 6 years, modded the hell out of it (twin 40s, Blydenstein engine, didscs all round, coilovers, Gp A rear beam, rose joints everywhere, quickrack etc...) and had it tested/featured in CCC Mag.
Did lots of trackdays all over the UK in it when trackdays first started up.
Sold it when the Chavs started to get their mitts on Novas.

(1996) 1993 VW Golf GTI Mk3. (17" BBS, coilovers etc) Had it 3 years...liked it....but it was just the car because of below.

(1996) 1993 Honda Fireblade CBR900 RRP. had this 5 years plus, modded the hell out of it too (single side swing arm, big brakes, carbon bodywork, Red Bull paintwork, quickshift, magnesium wheels etc)
Sold it in 2001 after it tried to kill me once too often.

(1997) 1986 Ford Fiesta XR2 track car. (Twin 40s, Emerald ph3 cam, full cage etc...) Functional, cheap fun. sold it a few years later.

(1999) 1999 Integra Type-R. Had to wait a year to get one...absolutely loved it...tracked it all the time. Eventually found the limit of the unburstable handling (so I thought) and wrote it off.
I miss that car.

(2001) VW 1996 Golf GTI 16v Anniversary (Mk3). bought it from my Dad as I could never afford it new...one of 250 16vs...now modified in almost every way...and probably never going to be sold.
5dr standard looking that will out accellerate, out handle and outbrake S3s...superb!

(2001) 2001 Audi S3 quattro. Bought it to give me confidence after the ITR write off...and as a project.
By the end it was perfect...but boring.
sold it to David R on here about 3 1/2 years later.
I miss that car...DJ Motorsport on here still has it...I want it back!

(2004) 2004 Porsche Carrera 4S. Perfect. Nuff said...
Never driven anything finer...totally as it left Zuffenhausen...and so good I still can't find the limits.
Never want to sell this...

(2007) 2007 Skoda Fabia vRS. Sensible diesel run about...but in limited SE guise (No 708 or 1000)
Great little car...quick, reasonable handling, 45-50 MPG and cheap road tax.
Ace!

I've never been one to buy and sell cars quickly...I tend to spend too long researching them and then keep them years...

Oh, I've not long turned 36.

Some on here have had a fair few cars. I tend to keep mine for a little longer than some:

OK had a D reg vauxhall Cavalier, then a Nissan Bluebird!!

Then when I could afford the insurance, I got a G reg 90 spec Mk2 Golf GTI 8valve, then sold that and got a Mk3 8v Golf GTI, got rid of that as it was no comparison to the Mk2, now have a V reg Facelift 1.8T Sport Audi A4, hopefully that will be going soon, to make room for an S3.

Crikey, i'm well lagging behind you guys. Even tho i'm nearly 30, only had 3 cars.

95 Vauxhall Nova 1.2
98 Vauxhall Astra Sport 2.0
99 Audi S3

6. F-reg Nissan Mk1 Micra 1.0 LS
7 D-reg Audi 80 B3 1.6 CL

Making progress :)

It all started with a classic mini cooper for me :superman:

Next on the list was a 2.0l 3sge MR2 which made it all the way to the nurburgring, did several laps and made it back without missing a beat!

I then fancied something with a turbo so along came the scooby uk turbo 2000 which had the prodrive performance pack.

I then got made redundant and the running costs and insurance cost of the scooby meant it had to go. So along came the 306 Rallye which was good fun and abused around the castle combe circuit.

New job was found and i began to search for a new car, was tempted to go for an older shaped evo or maybe another subaru however i started to look at German cars, i had already had a classic, jap and french so saw it as an opportunity to try something new. I found my s3 in Portsmouth, great condition, well priced, FSH and thats what i have to date. I find it has the perfect balance of being a smart car which you can go to work in but at the same time being something that is very tunable. It just ticked all the boxes for me, comfy, reliable, quick, good looking and good build quality compared to my previous cars.
