As in the title really chaps,
I'm about to make an offer on a nice rs4 B7 avant with just under 100k miles on the clock, full audi service history etc ( not that it make it any better ) .
Other than the decoke on these FSI's and the problematic DRC leaks , what else should I be looking at or be concerned about.
Any feedback would be greatfully received

What happened? Was it just a bad car, or generally are you now put of the B7 RS4?

Just niggles really, seller said work has been done but does not have specific reciepts etc that show it's had jobs carried out, just bills for general bits.
Not sure i can lash out on just word of mouth on one of these beast's.

Yeah, you need to have some piece of mind. My brother had one which suffered from the carbon build up, resulting in the engine being stripped. The car was only 4.5 years old at the time, but luckily he took the Audi warranty so it was covered. The final bill was just shy of 11k :sadlike:

Just wondering if there is an easy way to check the inlet ports for build up before making a descision,

Lovely cars and look like animals in person compared to the regular b7’s and all though these look good on paper Rob and have instant power being n/a you have to take audis 414 bhp figure with a pinch of salt as most are lucky to get 380hp at the crank then you got the carbon build up issues being old cars now so at best only about 100 more than your tfsi.....

    Hi Mate
Just want to give you my 2p,s worth on buying a B7 RS4
If you are seriously looking for one i would look on the Forums and FB RS4 pages not so much a dealer unless you can prove all the history and get a good warranty
Mine was a private sale and was owned for 3.5 years and he had spent a fortune on it and had a folder full of receipts, 3x services, de-coke, coilovers a must as you dont want DRC issues, full Miltek, pads, disks, tyres, stage 2 map with dyno charts.
Even with all of the above after 1 year of ownership it gave me a engine light which was a injector which was not common on these cars but was more common on Golf GTI, i spoke to MRC, QST and a few VW specialists and they all said coil packs and plugs.
But no it was a injector the quote for one was £900 due to the labour time 8 hours to strip and rebuild plus gaskets or 2k for all eight which i did as i didnt want the same issue on another one but i did have AA repair service which paid £500 towards it.
Other than that a set of tyres and a couple of services in the 14k miles i have done and its just gone over 43k
Please dont be put off by this as i feel everyone should own a RS as they are amazing cars but all owners will drive them properly to get the full noise and experience and also stop it coking up-so they say.
Spend as much as you can and have a spare credit card just in case to cover any smallish bills and enjoy.

many thanks for the great reply chap.
Put this on the back burner for now until the right one comes up for sale, saving the pennies now but also spending afew on the old bus.

    cheers
