What remap to go for? Audi A3 2.0TFSI Quattro

Hi Enzo

Ive only been a member on this forum for a few days, and only had my 2007 S3 2T FSI for about 4 months. I bought it the same time as my brother bought his A3. We both had REVO remaps by Sports Tech in Ilkeston Derbyshire. The A3 Stage 1 remap was superb, big increase in performance with no engine bolt ons. My bro is really pleased with it. Cost his £250.

I have progressed my S3 to Stage 2 plus, again using Revo software through Sports Tech at Ilkeston. With all bolt ons required, Cold air intake, Miltek Exhaust, High Pressure fuel pump, all Revo recommended and a Sachs high performance clutch has cost me about £2200 but all done by professional mechanics and technicians. It now goes like a rocket ship.

So all in all Revo has proved good to me

Mine went ok, though was bit nerve racking seeing all the warning lights flashing on and off, mine took about 5 mins to complete and got no errors, lets hope tomorrow brings a better result ENZO
Gave it another try and seems to be working now.
All sorts of warnings popping up on dash atm so see how it goest

Map choice is very dependent on what you want. Superchips is great for some as it's load up / load off, but given how many types of vehicle they offer maps for it figures their development time window will be lower than other companies that specialise in one or two brand Marques.

Revo has SPS for fine tuning which is what has always drawn me in as I can re calibrate as the ambient temperatures change or my mods evolve.

Shark maps seem very highly rated on here so whilst I haven't driven one yet they are definitely worth consideration.

I keep hearing about R-Tec recently, but haven't experienced their work.

Whoever you choose, it's as much about the support and the aftercare, it can be a lonely place if you have issues. Build a relationship with a local(ish) tuner and work with them, it will pay dividends.

Hope the map takes this time!

You are going to pay £359 to change your requested boost to 17psi when you can do it yourself for £20?, well maybe you would be interested in some magic beans, or some old rope? its your money to burn bud...

It is not just a boost increase. Infact, the ECU does not work in boost, it is working on torque and load. What you have done is forced it to run more boost and therefore more airflow. What it now has to do in order to get to it's requested torque setpoint is ****** the ignition timing to get the power back down. As I'm sure you have done your research, you don't need me to tell you the outcome this has.

At last, a voice of experience and reason; phew.... (rather than the blatherings of 'armchair' mechanics as I think Flexiblemouse put it).

Didn't think it would be too long before someone who knows what they're talking about would be along.

I can say from witnessing mapping taking place. It is definitely not just a case of increasing boost. All sort of numbers everywhere.

If anyone is interested in having a custom map it is definitely worth getting in touch with Rick. As mentioned above mapping is a personal choice thing depending what you want.

Well you are welcome to look at one of my logs and tell me why my engine is in imminent danger, because I ran a log every day and compared the values between the new log and the previous log. I measured Load, RPM, Boost, AFR, Timing, and IAT on every log, and I did not notice the ignition timing being retarded, it never ran lean, I never hit limp mode and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever, which is more than can be said for the people who got bluefin maps recently...

I never believed that this particular remap was ONLY an increase in boost and nothing more, just that it does not appear to do a lot more until stage 1+. My reasoning is that if the remap gives you 245hp@17psi (6600rpm) and I got exactly the same results, at exactly the same boost, at exactly the same RPM, whilst never running lean, having no detonation, and absolutely no problems, why is everyone so hostile to the idea?.

I cannot upload my log directly due to the file type, but I will reproduce some of it here for you all to look at.

load RPM Boost MAF AFR TIM IAT
100 5089 13.1 184 10.7 15.5 9
100 5395 11.5 183 10.8 18 9
100 5593 10.7 188 10.8 18 9
100 5693 10.2 188 10.8 19.5 11
100 5955 9.8 193 10.8 22.5 11
100 6141 9.0 192 10.0 23 11
100 6285 8.7 192 9.8 24 11
100 6595 8.1 196 10.5 23 12

Logging interval was .5s, some PID's read faster than others.

What litre is your brothers A3 and what bhp did he go from and to? I may need to give these guys a go as I'm close to ilkeston and was looking for a good remap place.

Hi mate my bro's is a 1.8 and its given it about another 40 bhp. Apparently the stage 1 re map on the revo option is great gains, my brother certainly notices it. Being honest, he is a bit of a boring driver, but his son persuaded him. Now he has turned rebel in his Audi.

Name of Company is Sportstech and their number is 01159309594.

i dont get how it only cost him £250, according to their site stage 1 revo is £499.

Enzo, how are you finding the map now you have had it for a fair while?

I went somewhere slightly different - Evolution Maps who are owned by Stu @ MSD a hugely known Ford tuner.

Great IMO, I don't like revo as all the power tends to be innitial, making it seem impressive and the powerband more like a diesel which is great but not what I wanted - overall driveablity and a big torque spread.

Enzo, is it all done now? Results?

As i was thinking about going for the superchips option. My car is always at Audi, so may need it lol
