What other toys you got??

Just wondering what other toys/ projects your all into?
Mines an old mini. Started life as a 1990 RSP mini cooper, now its a strippred out shell waiting for its rebuilt c20let engine(vauxhall2.0l turbo) been doing this for about 2 years.

Looks pretty good mate, its nice to have a little project on the go. Im not a massive fan of mini's myself but I like the odd one!, done a few resprays on rusty old minis that's put me off a bit. Did I that have the rust in the usual places.....everywhere!?

Is it gonna be a track or road car?

Aye it was quite rotten. Took a while to get it to a good shell. Its just a toy so it will be road legal but used for the odd track day.

Fair play to ya pal, it's gonna be quite nippy with a 2litre turbo in something that weighs about as much as a bag of spuds!!
Is it gonna be resprayed? Change of colour??

This is my baby. A 1989 Escort RS Turbo. Still has a 1600cc capacity 8v CVH engine but with a few tweeks taking power to 260bhp and 255lb of torque.

Currently in bits as it take its next evolution. White bumper trims have gone, single wiper conversion has been removed and the original spotlights are going back on once the brackets have been cleaned up properly. Dashboard is also out to be flocked and the door cards are to be replaced with carbon fibre items and electric window switches from an XR2i will be repositioned to the stereo aperture.

Used to have this as well but my evil ex *****ed me into selling. REally wish I'd kicked her out now and kept the car

Getting respayed, insides all done and the outside is primed. Didnt want it fully painted incase it got scratched. Keeping it red. Trying to get the steelth look. Lol.

Got to love the old skool fords. Had a feasta rs turbo a few Years ago cool cars.

Fitted the engine in on Sunday to find I've lost two engine mounts. Seems to be more room than I thought.



For anyone interested my mate has a fare project on the go just now. It's been stripped down and now getting rebuilt with 620 bhp.

do our projects have to be cars?
because if i had another project car id never be able to decide where my money gets spent, id not want to neglect the s3

i have a custom 4cross mountainbike which has constantly evolved over about 5 years, in its current spec its probably a little over 2k in parts.
it looks the absolute dogs and is a joy to ride. sadly i've no pictures

Nothing near as hardcore as the above, but I'm spending a bit more time on my Mk2 16V this year, it doesn't help that I have other cars on my drive. I still need to finish the never ending job of upgrading my S3 also, but in the last week, I've sorted the plumbing for the coolant system on my Mk2 and now sorting out the door skin leaks which is a common problem, and she need a rear brake caliper due to seizure.

Probably a piece of cake for some of you, but I try and do most of these myself with little or no experience of doing it before, so all a learning curve.

My other source of financial ruin outside of my S3 is my mk1 Golf, had it for 6yrs and was getting nowhere with getting it built so finally caved and sent it to a shop to be built.

Currently looks a lot less car like than when I took it up there.

Yep I had one when I went to college many, many, many moons ago and loved it so couldn't resist getting another one a few years back.

Yep it has a G60 Rallye front end on and this has now been built up to go in it -

Should be fun once done.

Chez it's getting a side exit exhaust due to there being no room at the back because of the diff. I could dig out more photos of it if you want. He has a build diary on passion ford.

No I decided that I needed boost so it's a 2.1 16v Turbo, only going with a little GT2871r to start with and maybe in a couple of years move up to a 3071, engine builder rates the engine good for around 550bhp so plenty of scope to up the hp if I get bored, it's still a 30yr old fwd car so I can't go crazy with the power or I will spend all my time just spinning the fronts.

Yaseen - A Turbo VR will be sure to put a BIG smile on your face.

If it doesn't have to be cars, then I have a 2007 Suzuki GSXR750 k7 Isle of Man. Its got a Power Commander III, an Akroprovic titanium exhaust, pushing power up to 140bhp at the rear wheel and a -1 front sprocket to increase acceleration.

2.1 turbo in a golf should be nuts!! I know what you mean about spinning the wheels think I'm going to have the same problem. 13" wheels are the biggest I can fit.

- Ok That is going to move quick! and sound even better - Gotta love the noise of a vr and a boosted one just brings a smile to my face.

s3_nug - It should be a fun toy, sadly I doubt it will be quick enough to keep up with my friends 600bhp 4wd R32 Turbo Corrado though so that GT30 may appear sooner rather than later

Rayland is building the engine. So he wants about 620bhp it will be connected to a 7 speed sequential box. Lots and lots of nice car but it's cost him the price of a small flat. Lol

Thought I would keep this alive, Been busy with kids etc.
Inspected my new engine and found that someone had fitted two head gaskets to lower commpression. (cowboy) so I decided to rebuild the engine, progress is slow due to time but this is where im at.

I spend a fair bit of time with these....

Sold my bike last year which I am planning on replacing with a newer R1 ( when the mrs allows)

And the old mini, it was a wreck when we got her.

Both running a 2.0 pinto and a decent cam and a set of 45's.
