Just noticed it today, at first I thought it was the alarm light..but it's not! Then I thought heated seat, but it's not! Just looked through the owners manual and can't see anything mentioning it...any ideas?

It’s a sensor.

I can’t remember if it is ambient light or temperature or something else.

My old VW had one on the AirCon unit.

It's a sunlight sensor for the AC, some lesser vehicles have them stuck at the top of the dashboard like a fugly red carbunckle (for example, the vauxhall that parks next to me in my office carpark!)
