so I was doing some dump runs and had to take out the parcel flap bar , and realised there is another bar beside it behind the seats .
It doesn’t connect to the seats , and there’s a mesh screen blind but it only comes out 6 inches , I thought it may be go screen off the back vertically but it won’t come out further and there’s no securing catch on the roof interior .. I’m puzzled!
There’s also metal slide mounts that look as if it should mount on to the backs of seats, but theres no mounting on back of seats .
Reminds me of my b7 parcel hatch that slid with similar mounts on the back seats .
So the seats and parcel shelf would fold down together , which is much better for quickly putting larger things in back with seats down,

As with the b8 I have to put seats down, remove parcel cover bar, and this other bar , then put in house or annoying lay on the full boot ... nuts ! B7 was much better for this ..

Thats called a “dog barrier”
if you are carrying a lot of stuff thats over the seat height you hook that net into the brackets of the ceiling and it prevents the boxes coming into the passenger seat.

It should extend about 12 inches.

Thanks, yeah thats what I thought it was for... but I have not ceiling bracket or hook for it to go into and it won't extend far enough to reach ceiling.
I wonder if it from another model .

Anyone else think the parcel shelf bar on a B8 is rubbish compared to a B7 where it secured to the seats ?

Just took a few pics for you...
Those showing the anchor points next to the handles are to hook the net when the rear seats are folded, in which case the roller bar is attached to the rear top part of the seats... there are 2 anchor points/metallic rails where the bar hooks up...

It comes out and attaches to to rear seat with the alloy sliders when folded down and hooks in the side of the roof near the rear door towards the front.
