Gave the S3 (and my A4 avant) a good clean today.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

One of the A4 for the sake of it.

Fitted Forge FMIC kit that i picked up recently. Missing a few hoses, picked them up from silicon hoses for not much pennies. Coat of stove high temp paint, bit of a refurb to the headlights, replaced upper boost hoses, removed and painted grill inserts while bumper was off, and fitted a new LCR splitter. Happy with the outcome. MOT looms tomorrow.

Fixed my remote case after trying to fit a new battery - the plastic was old and brittle but a bit of plastic weld goop and all is good :)

I would definitely recommend a good quality torque wrench to do them up as they need to be evenly tightened in a certain order if I remember correctly if you do them hand tight gasket will probably end up with the same problem also the half moon joint on the right hand side needs a small dab of sealant as it can weep otherwise I also recommend using a good quality gasket in the first instance hope this helps.

Timing belt, waterpump and thermostat. Getting that bracket which the RH engine mount sits on off was a nightmare and it wasn’t any easier getting it on either. There has to be some sort of trick to it. Raising and lowering engine didn’t help much either. Lots of fidgeting around

bought new rear pads, discs and calipers, struggling to wind the old caliper back, it bent the plate of my caliper winding kit, so i decided to just stuff it and bought 2 new calipers instead, the old ones are 20 years old already give or take.

Picked up some turbo-downpipe nuts, gasket and engine cover screws from TPS and my powerflex dog bone bush and new spigot rings arrived.

Those turbo-downpipe nuts and the engine cover screws are crazy expensive for what they are

Managed to pick up a milltek exhaust myself, gave it a little clean and polish today. I’ll get the motor up on a mates ramp next week and see where this annoying blow is coming from. Depending on the outcome, i might be looking for a DP and sports cat as well, just a little undecided at the moment as I’m really not chasing power.

sideways pic.... can’t be ***** faffing about changing that ....

Went out for the first proper drive in the S3 since purchasing it couple weeks ago. It needed all 4 tyres replacing so opted for Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s and they really have transformed the car.

Absolute blast to drive and considering it’s age couldn’t believe how well it still performs!

Shows you how good my hearing and diagnosis is .....no exhaust issues, it was the alternator belt making bizarre noises. New belt and tensioner to order next week, get that and the milltek fitted then it’s off to hibernation it goes.

Today I bought an almost mint condition cup holder for £35.

Slowly gathering good condition parts to help the restoration.

Mine will be going into hibernation in around a month. Although it’s sort of semi hibernating all the time.

It’s being dropped off tomorrow night to have the downpipe fitted Tuesday. May book it’s cambelt and water pump when I drop it off too.

Picked up the battery surrounds parts from work, kindly sent from S3AMJ. I’ll then finally get to fit my cover. Cars been washed waxed and tucked away for a month, but got the car cover off today removed battery and it’s now on charge. Also took laptop home from work and dug the vag com lite lead out. I’ll scan it tomorrow because before i tucked it away it had started lumpy cold start and getting worse as temps get colder. I’ve replaced the CTS, thermostat yet to fit and I’ve got a spare set of 2nd hand coils and new spark plugs so I’ll tinker away until hopefully that’s fixed. And in other news I think I’ve bagged a front bumper for spares, with all the grills and lower inserts, h/l washers all present, for a steal.
Now away crack open some fine ales and eat loads of cheese and biscuits with caramelised onion chutney

It’s mainly on my personal Facebook page, and this car isn’t the most reliable car, it’s jinxed even! Lol

I may create a thread on my build soon though.
